Default C&D ROAD TEST ON GT500

I've heard on the Vette forum that Car and Driver did a comparison between C6 and GT500 (article will be in July issue)
The performance numbers are as follows:
1/4 mile
C6 12.8@113
Gt500 12.9@112

0-60
C6 4.3
GT500 4.5

0-100
C6 9.9
GT500 10.3

0-150
C6 26.8
GT500 30.3

2 mile road course
C6 1.30.40
GT500 1.33.30

Top speed
C6 186mph
GT500 155mph (limited by ECU)

In my opinion these lunk heads at Car & Driver are lousy drivers because Motor Trend got their GT500 to run 12.7 in the 1/4. and C6 Vettes are definatly better than a 12.8

In a nutshell it's a drivers race on quarter mile drags but after that it's seems that the Vette will run away with it.

If an 03-04 cobra can pull a 12.4 stock, then I know a gt500 will demolish a c6...not a c6 z06, but yes a c6...

I've seen C6's running 12.4 in the 1/4 as well. The weight difference on the Shelby is just under 4000lbs that is a stated fact. So when you balance out the power to weight ratio they are going to have the same performance as far as quarter mile runs go.

Cobras and base Vette's have always been neck and neck in quarters since the terminaters when comparing same model years. Yes there is a wider difference in horsepower (100 in favor of Shelby) compared with the C5's and the terminaters but also the s193 GT's are heavier than previous model Gt's. So the Cobra platform is a heavier car this time around while the Vette has shrunk 6 inches shorter and 1 1/2 inches narrower. (hence the need for Ford to up the ponies on the Snake to stay up)

Well, the 03-04 cobra weighs a little over 3600, I don't see 300 lbs. difference stopping the gt500 from getting into the high elevens.
