just wanted to see if anyone here has had maaco do body/paint work on their cars. please post pictures if you can and also let me/us know which class of job you chose (ambassador, presidential, etc.).
also, i'm really looking to see who's had jobs done at a maaco in the maryland area. if you have, let me know which particular location you went to and whether or not they were any good.
I worked at a Maaco a few years back, the actual paint that they use isnt of a bad quality. What sux is their prep, more accuratly their lack of prep. I had a car sprayed there years ago and when I sold it last year it still looked great. My advice is do your own prep work, then take it there to have it sprayed. Its cheap for enamel (<$200), but theres no clear, if you wnat a base/clear paint job itll definitly be WAY more expensive. -P.
I just recently had my car painted at Maaco in Wisconsin here for $2000. I went with the "Signature" paint job(their most expensive one) I had them paint some stripes on my car and fix some big dents and dings. Thats why it was as much as it was. I really like the paint job. I would suggest that if you do have Maaco do it check on it every day and look for anything they are doing that you don't like and point it out! Also compliment them if you like what their doing--hearing that might make them pay a little more attention to your car then others. The first pic is before and the second pic is after

Actually I know the car looks like its black and orange but I have to update the picture. When I got it back there was alot of dents that they didn't get out on the drivers side. I pointed it out to them and they told me that they would have to repaint the whole side of the car after they took the dents out--of course at no charge to me. They painted that side of the car TWICE and they could not get the paint to match the rest of the car!! So finally they said they would have to tape off the orange stripes and repaint the entire BLUE part of the car so that it would match all over. Seems to me they should of done that in the first place!! Anyways the car is a sapphire blue now and not a deep dark blue. I'll take some pictures today of it and show you guys the color it is now. Like I said in my other post if you get your car painted at Maaco WATCH THEM LIKE A HAWK!!! I couldn't afford to go to a good paint and body shop so Maaco was the next best thing according to my finances.
I have no idea. I bought it off of e-bay and it didn't say anything about Trans Ams. Why? As far as I'm concerned ram air is ram air no matter what car its on. I do, by the way,own a 84' Trans am with ram air

hey man whats up i live and work in MD dont go to maaco itll look like crap go to a real body shop i work at a body shop its called hyattesville auto body off of rt 1 in hyattesville i can talk to my boss and see what kinda price i can get ya it will probably be between 1700-2200 dollars but the paint and body work is guarenteed the life of your ownership of the car any probs just bring it back and we fix it and there will be no paint or overspray on lights or moldings handles mirrors or anything else we do really good work
When I had my 89 GT, some idiot slammed into the right rear end of it and my insurance company wanted to junk the car. Of course there was no way I would allow that to happen. I had waaaay too much money invested under the hood. So, I had to take what little money they gave me and get her bandaged up and painted. Yep, picked the wrong place to paint it for sure. When it was done, 6 days longer than estimated, they had overspray all over my exhaust tips, muffler, and part of the tire and rim. When I confronted them there at the shop, they said they would fix it. Two more days went by and when I returned there was some idiot out there with a bucket of solvent and a scrub brush just going to town on my rims and tire.
IT WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. I ALMOST CALLED THE "BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU" ON THEM, IT WAS THAT BAD!
Like someone said earlier, if you do your own prep work you can end uo with a nice pain tjob. My dad had his '93 LX vert painted at Maaco and it turned out really nice, except he had to remove the headlights, taillights, emblems, and he masked off everything. It turned out looking like a new car! Just don't be one of the people who get Maaco paintjob to cover up rust- that is so annoying.

Hey man I stay in College Park right off of Rt. 1. If you are still working at that auto body shop around winter time I might come up there because I need to have my car painted.
Their right Macco sucks. I wnet to school for autobody, i dont do it for a living or anything, but i no a little bit. If you are just trying to save money go for it, but if you are looking for quality go somewhere else. I guess it does depend on the individual shop. I live in NC so i dont know waht their like where youre from.If youve got the time take my advice, do what i did. Go to alocal communnity college if they offer an auto painting class where u can paint youre own car. And all youll spend is cost of the class, and cost of paint. You will also gain the knowlege of auto refinishing.
