Hello, I am struggling with finding a good sub/amp combo. I am looking to go with a good 12" sub and mono amp. I'm going to also install alpine's new cda-9857 HU. The combos that you can vote on are all around the same price, for the most part. So vote on value, quality, performance, etc.

BTW, does anyone know of some sort of adaptor that can be used to bypass my factory amp ('04 gt) so my speakers can run directly to my new HU?

there is no bypasss adapter if you bypass that amps your speakers will sound like shi* you can rewire the car or adapt the HU to the amps

what do you mean "adapt the HU to the amps" - i'm confused. there has got to be an easier way to bypass my stock amp(s) than to re-wire everything, there has just got to be.

-Not sure what sq or spl means.
-I want one 12" sub
-I want to take up the least amount of room in trunk as possible. Ideally, I would like to put the sub enclosure on one side of the trunk and the amp either mounted to the box or up against one of the rear seats. However, I'm having a hard time finding a sealed enclosure that is shorter than 12" (the height of the deepest part of the trunk). But of course the sub itself will be 12" so I was wondering if I can place a larger box on it's back (so the sub is facing straight up)...can I do this?
-Price limit is about $600. If I shop around well and install myself I believe I can meet this with the cda-9857 HU, mono amp, 12" sub, enclosure, and cableing. I do not plan on upgrading my speakers, for now at least.

Dilemmas:
-Finding an enclosure for a 12" sub that fits
-Figuring out a way to make my stock speakers work and bypass my stock amp. (It seems like EVERYONE I talk to about this gives me a different answer.)

-sq sound qualty
-spl sound pressure level
-you can place the box fireing stright up
-try to find a side ported bandpass encloser and aim the port at the back of the seat but there is a little more tuneing involve to get this method perfect
-also i build all my enclosurs cause ive always found that to get it exactly how you want you have to build it yourself

Do you want sound quliaty, or loud.

How much is the cd player, a decent amp for a decent sub will run you at least $200...factor in the sub at 150$...box 30$ish...wiring $40....420 there...hopefully the cd player is only $180 or less..

I can get the cda-9857 cd player for $284. That includes the HU adapter and new plastic molding. Most people have voted for the JL setup so that amp is about $150 and the sub is $100. Oh, and I am after sound quality more that loudness. Still trying to figure out how to get this wireing mess cleared up (bypassing the factory amp(s) and retaining my stock speakers).
