I think there is room for everyone. But I beleive the Mustang simply has no competition in its class........for now. Its a great value that leaves a lot of room for tuning and custimization. That being said Im looking foward to seeing the next round of modern retro cars from both Chevy and Dodge. Its gonna be a blast seeing the streets full of true american muscle cars. And seeing as Im just 26, this will be a first for our generation.

The dates vary a lot, that I begin to wonder if the whole thing is a myth of sorts.

I'm really looking forward to the release of the Camaro, Challenger and hopefully better redesigned GTO.  Like WhoMe stated, it will be great to see tons of returning and revamped muscle cars on our streets.  I'm getting pretty tired of seeing boring old Hondas, Toyotas and Scions every day.  My dream cars since before I could drive...  I wanted the Camaro back in it's hayday like the 1969...A 1966 Corvette Stingray...a 1970 Challenger (which my neighbor had that I was jealous of)...1968 Firebird...and of course the 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback!  I'm a fan of all American Muscle!  But I think Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, and Dodge all had there unattractive generations.  I never liked the Camaro after change in the 1970s.  Same with the Pontiacs.  And no offense, but I never found the sn95 Mustangs attractive.  I don't think Chevy ever went wrong with the Corvette, it always looked good!  All in all, I think we should be hating on imports and helping each other survive.  Because god knows, we don't want Toyota to be number 1 again!

I don't think anytime soon.  I've seen pictures here and there...to me they look just like the Camaro so I don't think it's real.  But with Chevy bringing in the Camaro and Dodge bringing in the Challenger and Pontiac already releasing a failed GTO, they might be a few years on the Firebird if anything.

the c6 are amazing. fan of chevy's performance division but a bigger fan of ford (other gm cars sucks exhaust / arse). ford has done a better job of combining styling, performance, price and reliability in vehicles than gm imo. huge fan of the Ford Gt but knowing that GM has produced similar numbers (0-60 in first gear from GT and Z06 is amazing to me) with almost a $60,000 price difference goes to show that chevy isn't as bad off as some people are making it seem. honestly, it proves how much further ahead their technology can truely be. but again, im very loyal to ford and Gm is great but the mustang legend is uncomparable to anything else.

we should all go back to hating on dodge. doesn't that sound like a better idea to everyone too?

Well being of ford blood. I have always been into mustangs, but loved camaros and Trans am's. I have had more f-body's then mustangs! The camaro will drop in 09 (late 08) and as far as GT's beating Z28's you better think again. unless ford puts a lil more umph in the gt it over b4 it began! Hell l! The new gt's are barley beating LT1 times from 97 (my 97 z ran 13.8 @ 108). But I have seen them get low 13s.Bottom line is it going to be fun!
As far as the Z06! Its 75g's 500hp 2900lbs 2 seater sports car! Find a car that can compete in All its classes . I only wished that ford had kept the T-bird as a 2 seater sports car .An stayed with the vette instead of making a boat family car out of it! Then trying to bring it back only to get bashed on my the masses.
As for as the GTO there is talk about revamping it. But its "suppose" to get fazed out after the new camaro drops. As for a new T/A or Firebird! We will see. But I would not be surprised if it came out a yr or so later. Just like in the 60's when it dropped a few months after the camaro. The camaros are suppose to be heaver but that nothing new, they have always been a lil heavy but they made up for that with better suspension setups. I have 2 camaros now 3rd and 4th gen's and a 71 RS on that way, and 2 stangs both foxes and looking for a 04 cobra  or maybe a new one, but I love them both and will own a new camaro when it drops.
As far as GM being junk ! You can lie to yourself! but you can't lie to us..  You give one v6 ford made that that's could compete with a 3800 or 4.3 in the performance end ? The new 2.2 ecotech can push out more hp with a stock bottom then any 5.0 or 4.6! LS1 I had one! You try throwing a 200 shot on a 4.6 of a 5.0 stock and see what happens ..Those motors are bad and put out more hp then a non sc 4.6 or 5.0  and get good gas while doing it.But like anything. They can be made better. You can try to dog them but they do make a better motor.
But either way you look at it! They Both make kick ass cars and trucks yes gm's prices will be the determining factor on how well they do! But im sure that was the first thing out there mouths .
But I think that best way to enjoy them is to own them. Both!!

Unless Ford steps up the chassis/interior on the redesigned Mustangs in the upcoming couple of years, and gives it IRS (like the upcoming Challenger and Camaro).........the Mustang will remain the least expensive pony car on the market.  There simply is no way for GM or Dodge to cram 6.0+liter engines into a superstiff chassis with an IRS and still have them MSRP under 30K.  There's just NO way.  I'm not about to knock the upcoming pony competition, they both look to be on the road to greatness.  But ppl who think they'll be driving the next generation 400+hp Camaro/Challenger for less than 35K are simply deluding themselves.  Just like my best bud (and GM fanatic).........he's fully expecting to land himself an LS7 powered Camaro for 30-35K  I'll be standing far away when his reality check comes in.

Lest we forget, Ford opted to keep the current Mustang a live axle car to save on cost and weight.  I read a technical memo last year where a Ford engineer said that had the new Mustang gotten an IRS, it would have stickered starting at 29K (as opposed to 26K) and would have weighed about 130-155 lbs more than they do now.  I don't know about u all..........but that kind of setup would not have suited me at all.  The pony car needs to remain what it was always intended to be........a cheap performance car for the masses.  Ford would be wise to stick with its current chassis/axle setup for the upcoming redesign, and start putting some bigger HP motors into the new cars.  The Camaro and Challenger will both be 3700+lb cars (Challenger slated to be around 4000lbs).......and a 3500-3600lb Mustang with a good performance motor will more than handle its own amongst the competitors, especially with a solid rear.

Either way, the arrival of the new Camaro and Challenger is good news even for us Mustang fans.  These new car models will help to saturate the pony car market, and should help keep prices on future SE Mustang models down.  And on top of that............a little competition is good for innovation.

Now where's my new Boss 302, Ford???

Yea, if you ask me (and I know Ford, GM, and Dodge wont)....all three of these upcoming pony cars should have IRS as an option, not as a standard.  Give the guys who want the nice ride, or to build a road course car, their IRS.  Then let the guys who are into lightweight straight line dragging have their solid axle.  Sounds simple, but I guess the cost of producing a car with two completely different rearend setups would be pretty nasty.  But we can dream, can't we?

I wanna see what the new camaro will really look like, not just the concept... the mustang's concept was pretty different than the one that actually came out.

If you ever notice........alot of times the concept cars are wider and have a lower profile compared to their production counterpart (just like the S197 model did).  What I'm hearing is that the roofline on the Camaro will be taller (no chop top) and the body will be narrower than the concept.  I'm guessing also that many of the concept's sharp angular lines will disappear into smooth flowing curves on the way to production.  I'm "hoping" that GM nixes the smiley face upbends in the front grill along with the Silverado grade bowtie emblem.  Couldn't hurt to get rid of the half-assed Corvette wannabe tail lights either.

The interior?.......well, thats anyone's guess.

As far as the look. What you see is pretty much what your getting. I like the lights i love them on the 70 1/2 -73s as far as the interior thats will be very close to that you see in the car now with a few changes but nothing to out of the ballpark . But im hopping that it won't have no 20s on it !!

i do not think it will look 100% like the concept, all concepts change to a more realistic look when put into production, the interior will probably change, and so will the front and back, not to mention you will see more V6 models than V8 models on the road which will probably not look so good

I have seen a few posts in here about the GTO being a part of the Challenger, Camaro, Mustang deal. The GTO has been discontinuted. There will be no more GTO's. In 2008 the GTO's are being switched to a G8. It is like the Pontiac G6 but with body kits and a 400hp ls2 engine in it. Looks to be a pretty sweet car. Looks 100 times better than the GTO did.
