prettysure if someone wanted to steal your car manual or auto they would have no problem. "grind em till you find em" as i always say LOL.

That would be a funny scene in a movie though. Some kind of a futuristic comedy. Kind of like Cheech and Chong meet Star Trek type deal. Afixer, write the script.

Its all matter of opinion. Test drive both the V6 and V8 in auto and manual. Find which you like the best.

for me it was either "im getting a manual mustang or not getting one at all", luckily they had 1 on the lot, bone stock base model with nothing.. but it had the stick :D. there was also a GT stick (used) for the same money but insurance just killed it stone dead.

i have a same conflict like u do, i made up my mind and went with a v6 prenium mustang, auto, and after lots and lots of fun driving around in it, i was upset because of the lack of response in throttle and i was wishing that i shouldve got the gt instead with just deluxe with manual (if i can just drive a clutch)

now dont get me wrong, i loooove my v6, but just dont make the same mistake like i did...

Get a tuner Xcal2 or Diablo. That should improve the throttle response

What do some of you guys mean by "optioned out V-6 or stripped GT"?

GTs only come in Deluxe or Premium, so the base models already have more options than the Standard V-6s and are hardly stripped.

The only difference between the Deluxe and Premium is the Shaker 500 & leather seats come standard with the Premium, otherwise they are the same.

But anyway, back to Auto vs. Manual, I would pick Manual over Auto any day of the week. I have a manual on my '04 F150 as well.

they are your decision, but auto vs manual, they auto is somewhat quick, and if you want an auto you can always sport shift it, as for the GT vs V-8, check out your insurance company for that, if they are around the same deffinately go for the V-8, as for gas, that all depends if you have ledititus or not, but a GT will only get a few less mpg then a 6er

what exactly do you mean by sport shift in an auto???

Needed the exhaust cutouts, and wanted the foglights, simple as that. There's no GT badging and never will be.

Go with the stick, you won't be sorry

As for the GT vs. V6, I love my 4.0

I'd way rather have a nicely optioned V6 than a stripper GT

Nicley optioned to the point of looking like a GT lol. Just messing with you lol.

Teacherman...I feel your pain...the same with me, the wife can't drive stick so an auto it was for me...but If I could it would be a stick, but I had to think about the whole "what if...emergency+kids, issues"

Hey Guys,
Any suggestion whether automatic transmission is better or manual?

Quick Suggestion
Should I go for V6 premium edition or V8 Basic?
Please advice.

I have an auto because my wife can't drive stick. I would have prefered stick all the way. However, Since I absolutely love my car, I love the auto with it. It is convenient in bumper to bumper stuff. But I still think stick is cooler.

As far as the V8 or V6. Well that is up to you. As Afixer once said, YOU should make that call It was something like that anyway. I am happy as hell with my car. I love it so much. I wanted a GT up until tonight when I was cruising around with my new duals. Now I am just happy with what I have. It's up to you though really. Good luck, I am sure whatever decision you make will be the right one.

turn off Overdrive, start off in 1, shift to 2, shift to 3 shift to D, turn on OD at desired rpms, i believe the autos in the 05s have manual valve bodies for gears 1-3 so if you are in the 3 and come to a stop it will not down shift,

This logic works both ways;

I got the MANUAL because the wife can't drive a stick...

hehehehe

I bought a v6 manual converitble. Fun to drive, looks good, great with the top up or down. The best advice is asking yourself what do you want it to do. I wanted something that was fun to drive (stick) and a rag-top. I don't drive too fast, or do any racing (i'm not a 20 year old asian boy) so the v6 was perfect for me.

I've had my car for 2 & 1/2 months, and if I could do it over, I'd get the GT. Now don't get me wrong, I love my V6, and coming from always having had little economy cars in the past, the V6 felt like a rocket to me when I test drove it, and I figured that it was plenty good enough. And it IS plenty good enough, BUT, for me personally, now that I got a taste of that acceleration, speed, and power that the V6 has, I want more! lol! Oh well... next time... Then again, there's that whole price difference issue that played a major role in my decision also! lol!

As far as manual vs auto, I think that's just a matter of what you would rather drive. I prefer the "fun" of driving a manual. I'll put it to you this way, the dealership had the exact car I wanted in the color I wanted with an auto, and the same car in a different color with a manual... and I took the manual. But that's just me.

IMO, there is no comparison to a manual transmission. Two doors and a clutch are the only way to go for me.

no, it's all electronically controlled... it's just that it's not programmed to downshift... If I remember correctly the problem is the downshifts are HORRID! Amazingly clunky to the point it is unacceptable! LOL! However Lidio does have it set up so if you slow down for say a turn and you give it some gas, it immediately downshifts for you... so it helps make up for not downshifting...
