So i responded: "So you got a Neon?"
he syas "no, man. its an srt-4."
so i said:"So your telling me you got a neon right?"
He was mad...but i laughed, and i am still laughing...

With my mods in my sig (and a young recentley tuned up 70,000 mile engine) how would I do against either of these?
I messed with one the other day (I was behind him) and he only put a couple lengths on me. Of course, he hit it hard going around the turn, and I couldn't because my car is a RWD V8 and I definately would have pulled a 360. I don't know if it was stock, but it was quick, but I figured not too far from my reach. I figure I'm putting down somewhere in the figures of both those years. Any thoughts?

whoa whoa , calm down sweetheart. i just hate SRT-4s... THAT MY OPINION , me n the mach1 dont reflect others here , they love that little F/I econobox w/ a 3 ft spoiler. STANMAN will tell you about his till u dont wanna read ne more. stay the course.
My local car group had a dyno day at Steen racing and a stock Cobalt SS with a pulley put down 234whp 229wtq... My friends Decently modded SRT-4 put down 251whp 283wtq (18#'s)...Stage 1 with some other goodies

BTW the SRT-4 ran a 13.55 @ 102.XX...
I have to say I respect the SRT-4's quite a bit...The cobolts are nice but ust not my cup of tea...

Stage 2 srt owner here, first off nice kill to who ever started this thread! Secondly I've beat up some mustangs real bad and I've got my ass handed to me by others. Fast is just a matter of how much your willing to spend. I spent 17G's on a used srt-4 and added 2 G's worth of mods and got the skittle in the high 12.s! Mustangs are truely American classics! I can't wait to see the Camaro Vs. Mustang war rekindled! It's also awesome that just about any preformance car out there can run 12's with a few mods. People that say the 60's were the golden age of hotrodding don't have a clue. Just spend a day at the drag strip and you'll see 3 or 4 srt-4's in the 12's and you'll see twice as many mustangs running 12's. No need to be hating on the other Brand just line them bitchs up and run em

K_dusty is right though, I am a car enthusiast. I hate ricers, I have never hidden that fact, but I will respect ANY fast car. Ricer or not.
I mean HTV8, you drive a car that's as common as the day is long, but I don't hate you for it, because it's your's, and it's what you like. Maybe you like haveing the EXACT same car as 50,000 others, maybe you like being a conformist?? No matter how much slower it is than BOTH of my cars, you'll still love your car right? Just because I drive 2 cars that you don't see 5 million of every day and could never be mistaken for any other car in a Wal-mart parking lot doesn't mean you have to be jelous and hateful like your sigline, because you still love your car right?? And in the end, that's all that really matters, that we all love our cars!!!
You have 2 for sure, and the GT would turn my head, because I like Stangs. Well, every single one of them besides the one HTV8 is driving. Just because it's his, and that's my opinion, lol. As a matter of fact I think I have a new sigline:
hey iam new to this site but heres my take as if it matters frist off SRT's are not the fastest cars on the road 14sec is what i have seem about 80% of them run. I my self respect that and yes a stock SRT will beat a stock 5.0 auto for sure but, a 5speed coupe with a good driver that would be interesting . Another thing is i would not mind having one for a daily driver but, in the same since i kinda hate them becuse most of the drivers are jerks they think every 5.0 stang is slow. I once wanted to ask a guy srt onwer about the car and he was like trying to bash v8s when all i wanted to know is about the SRT. Great to see a OK decent cars on the street better then 17sec hondas trying to race you but its still a FWD 4banger no matter how much turbo but a turbo on a mild v8 car and guess what the SRT is not in ur sights anymore the same 2k u spend going from stage 1 - stage 2 i can go from 13sec 5.0 to 11sec 5.0 its all about power for dollar and who has it.
that being said the SRT4 i would say is the best FWD power for dollar car out there 230hp and 270TQ love those numbers
A stock SRT would murder a stock 5.0. The SRT's are in New Edge Stang territory, stock 5.0's are not. And I am not trying to be a douche, I love Foxbodys, just stating a fact.
What did you want to know about SRT's?? As HTV8 has stated, I will talk your ear off about them, it's my first turbo car, so I have done alot of research on them besides just owning one, lol!!

Haha, whenever Ford puts out a fast Vehicle, GM has to be right behind them to one them up? Right... It all 3 trying to compete with each other not trying to play catch up but if you want to put it like that then Ford is the one always trying to catch up with GM. I'm not saying it wrong or anything because I like FI cars but Ford always has to use FI to keep up with GM. GM does away with the Camaro due to sales and then Ford brings out the SC Cobra and takes over by a small margin running high 12's low 13's with it. The LS1 02 Camaro's/and or the WS6 Trans AM best track time recorded was 12.9 and run 13.3 all day at the track right around the area with the SC Cobra. That seems like they were the one's trying to play catch-up. Hell Ford has never had anything that competed with the Vette until now. All the way through the early 90's was a high 13 second car and the late 90's the Vette was a mid 13 to low 13 second car and what was Ford doing to compete with that? And the majority of the 60's and 70's Camaro's were faster from factory than the Mustangs and then in the 80's the Mustang was slightly quicker than the Camaro's and then in the 90's the Camaro's took back over.

I like FI cars but Ford always has to use FI to keep up with GM.
I think it is more like this: GM always has to use huge displacement engines to keep up with Ford's small displacement FI engines. i.e. the 6.0L LS2 compared to Ford's 4.6L. Even with the S/C'd 5.4's in the GT and in the GT500, GM has the LS7 sitting at 7.0L just to turn over similar numbers. That's a 1.6L difference (or the entire displacement of a Honda engine ). I think it is great what Ford engineers have accomplished with the small displacement engines.
Trying to find a stock 5.0 or a stock srt-4 is next to impossiable because their both so cheap now and the aftermarket for both car is so huge. It almost seams silly to leave either stock, just my 2 cents.
