I'm pretty sure this guy was looking for reply's from people with experience racing LT1's and not for someone to do a google search and reprint 1/4 times, but thanks anyway 2000si... we appreciate your extensive car knowledge.

Drivers race. All the way.

2001 Ford Mustang Cobra
Transmission: Manual
0-60: 4.8
1/4 Mile: 13.5
1/4 Speed: 105

1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
0-60: 5.1
1/4 Mile: 13.4

where the hell did you get those times? a 98 ls1 maro does 60 in 5.7, and the 01 cobra, i think 5.4

yea those numbers are way off.

In any event an LS1 is faster than the cobras 4.6. Theres just no arguing that.

Yeah I heard the 01 SVT's performance was made to match the LS1s of the day and did a great job with just about equal numbers across the board.

Eh, I'm sure the Cobra's are fast. From my experiences, I've yet to see any nearly stock Mustang, excluding the new Cobra, get close to beating an LS1 at our local 1/8 track.

Just because you paid $60K for a GT Mustang doesn't mean you get to troll me every chance you get.

its all in the driver...anyone can go fast in an lt1/ls1, since they make max torque at 2400rpm...its takes a better driver to get the potential out of a 4v. after owning a 4v and lt1, and not having a biased opinion like you do, ide have to say i like the 4v more

Why might I ask? You simply stated that anyone can make the LT1/LS1 go fast, yet it takes a great driver to make the 4v go fast. Why exactly would that make you want the 4.6 more?

I still don't know where you get that I'm biased. Hell, I'd take a Viper over mostly any domestic b/c it's faster. If Chevy made another Vette that'd outrun the Viper, I'd want it. If Ford made something faster than any of these cars, I'd want it. And so on and so on...

boost. simple enough. if i wanted a bone stock car, ide be totally happy with an ls1. hell ide be happy with one right now. but thats not the point...i have a few issues with chevy after buying my maro...i always hear the old timers say how much easier chevys are to work on than fords, well thats BS. for instance, a ****ing cap and rotor costs $180.00 for my maro, and i have to take the water pump off to do so. tell me if there is a way around it if im wrong, and also, tell me how to change all the spark plugs, because it seems impossible. and taking the radiator out was about the most ive probably ever cussed in my life.

Haha, the 93+ f-bodies are bitches to work on. It's like they built the car to just barely fit the motor in it.

Here

That should help, if you still have the Maro.
