So my parents called in and checked the insurance cost of my would be 05 v6 automatic mustang. They were quoted 1060$ every 6 months. Im 20, have a 3.35 GPA after my sophmore year of college, and have no wrecks or citations on my record. Im really not sure why, but my parents seem hell-bent on using this insurance agency. If im not mistaken, theyre paying like 700 / 6 months on my 1.8L 4 banger saturn. Im pretty sure they're retarded.
Im 20 as well (almsot 21 5 months WEWT) and my insurance on my stang is about 1200 every six months, thats with an accident on my record (so glad i dont have to drive taht POS focus anymore), but i did this course called safe drivers, idk if all agencys offer it but statefarm does, you watch a video and answer questions in a booklet turn it all in and your insurance drops signifigantly. You may want to look into that. Without it id be paying nearly 1800
That seems rediculous because mine is only 105 a month and i am 16 and mine is a stick. This might help.
>>>You should list your mother or father as the primary driver and you as a secondary driver. That brings it down a ton, and it's perfectly legal. <<<<
What insurance do you have? My mom is a teacher so we have some special teacher insurance thingy, but i don't think it would make that much of a difference.
Do you live in a big city where alot of cars are stolen? That can raise the price of your insurance.
I get charged about $1800 every 6. I have a DUI for dope. Im 23 going on 24 this july. I would love to pay about $176 a month. Thats actually pretty good man. I pay $300 a month would be $340 if I didn't pay in full. You got to remember too the V6 Mustang is considered a high performance car even though it is a 6. I know its crazy. I think to my self (It's not a V8? In not that true V8 muscle?) But actually for being 20 with nothing on your record $176 a month or $1060 every 6 is straight dude. I would have soo much extra money!!! Man I kick my self in the butt. My DUI is not dropping until 3 more years
It pretty decent man, could be worse

Have you checked to see what your insurance quote would be if the car was titled in one of your parents name. I know that saved me over 600 bucks to do it that way. I wouldn't see being that much especially with a clean record.
They might want to stick with that insurance company because of their homeowner's insurance.
This is very true.. and is it Geico by any chance? I remember paying what seemed to be ridiculously high prices until I switched over to a another one. Not to down Geico, they are a very top notch insurance. Just too high for me.
Have you tried Bob's Fish, Chip's, and Insurance? Very good customer service!
wow, okay i guess thats better than i thought. No, actually i checked geico last night and it was 937 quoted online. Im not sure what company it is, but i do know its not the same as our home-owners. I'm definately gunna check on sticking them as the primary. I just dont see explaining it if i do have an accident 200 miles from home. lol.
im paying just over 1000 every 6 months too.... u should ask about the good student discount... most have this discount but not oblidged to tell u about it. u get about 375 bucks off every 6 months.... i didnt as im not an american student.
They might want to stick with that insurance company because of their homeowner's insurance.
This is most likely the correct answer. I have both my auto/homeonwer's insurance lumped on the same plan.

Yah definitely check into the good grades discount, I got it in high school and it's carried into college so far. I'm not even the primary on my car, rather for a 71 Volkswaggen and my insurance is still way up there. Also the city has a ton to do with it, my parent's insurance doubled after moving from MD right near DC to Las Vegas, and as you can imagine subsequently putting me on the plan doubled what had just doubled :(
Im 19, never had a ticket and in college making good grades and its $1800 every 6. I also live in Harris county. (literally one of the worst places to buy insurence in the US) Just my luck.

I've never understood this insane notion that good grades equals good driver. There is no proof that someone who gets good grades is a better driver than anyone else. Driver discounts for grades is nothing more than a marketing ploy to bring in more business... and it works.
