I've reading a few posts and was wondering--what's everyone's favorite wheel style on a classic mustang? Do you like the new style "the bigger the better", or do you prefer to stick with the smaller 14's with wheel covers/spinners? Personally, I'd seriously think of copying slickmans wheels, if only I could get them with 4 lugs. I was also looking at Mach1wade's moons ( http://www.mustangforums.com/m_1379232/tm.htm ) and like the look of them--but I don't think they are for me. So what about you?

Yes to smaller. !5's are good, anything like a 17 or over is just wrong. I like the Centerline 05's, they go on most anything. Some people may say they're way overdone, but that never changes my mind.....Also like the old oval slotted rally wheels.

First of all, the Ford engineers weren't stupid when they designed the early Mustangs with 14" wheels, so that is what I am sticking with. Secondly, for the aftermarket wheels, the Mag 500's were designed for these early mustangs. They have class without taking away from the beauty of the body of the classic mustang. As far as I am concerned, the 14" mag 500's are the best looking after market wheels for our early model mustangs.

Put me down for the 14 and 15 " rims. Aluminum slots and Torque Thrusts are my favorites. The mag 500's are also sharp looking rims. The more black rubber showing the better. Personally the "ricer" look just dosen't do it for me. Keep em on the Honda's.

For a classic wheel I will take the styled steel wheels. I think they look the best. I didn't go with that on mine but I'm going retstomod. I went with 17" 05 bullits on my 67.

Yeah, 67 and up classics seem to have a wider choice of wheels that look classy on them. But the 65 and 66 bodies, IMO, don't look good with the big shiny wheels. It simply takes away from the beauty of the classic design.

I am starting to agree. I have Craiger S/S on my 65. They are mint, and I dig them, but sometimes I feel like its too much chrome. I am considering changing to something more reserved/original style.

I like the steel styled rims. I have those on mine. I also like the magnum 500's. My dad has a pair of 2002 GT rims for his 67.

I second the magnum 500's and then the styled steel wheels are a close second.

Nah, the second best are the original wheels and caps.

I have a set of minilite 8 spoke 14"X7" on my 65 coupe, these seem to be pretty rare on a mustang ,but I like the look, and these are some of the original "mag" wheels as they really are made of magnesium, and weigh about half of what an aluminum wheel weighs.

I must agree on the original wheels! I love the '66 hubcaps especially, they're real classic looking. I personally don't like to see any of the disc brake or anything else through the wheels.

it really seperates your car from the docile, stock grocery getter....makes it look more like an agressive beast of a car that has some real power or UMPH to it.

69 Boss, I'll have to say, yours are about the only big wheels I've seen that I really like. I guess the 69 bodystyle is a little more accepting that a 65-66 style.

Id say that for the bigger body style, 17s look pretty good, especially on the car posted by 69boss. 15x7 on the earlier cars is a match made in heaven. I cant stand the look of 14s, it just looks so castrated. The bigger inch wheels can look good on the earlier cars, but for 98% of the time, 15x7 looks best because its enough to fill the wheelwell without being overkill. Not to mention with a 215-225/60 it will handle the best and require a very minimum of clearancing. I found a couple good examples of my point just by searching ebay.
14"

15"

and finally 17"

the 17s really dont look too bad, but theyre not my choice. when I see the picture of the mustang with 14s i expect there to be a punchline afterwords.
