Hello, Everyone-- I'm new here and new to Ford ownership-- just bought my first Ford, a 2006 GT Ragtop 5 speed. I noticed in the Ford accessory catalog the dealer gave me that they offer a wiring harness/adapter accessory that gives you a mini jack pre-amp AUX input off the Shaker 500. That would be perfect for my iPod. I haven't asked for an installed price on this yet but just wondering whether any of you have installed it and how it works... happy? After that, if I could just get heated seats... I saw literature at the dealer saying that 2007 Mustang has heated seats and aux stereo input as available options... Cheers from Gadgetnut ON EDIT: I just realized I was was loading this forum starting on page two! So I missed the earlier post regarding this topic. Disregard this post and read Starman's post, "Add Aux Input (iPod) to Shaker 500." Thanks!

The P.I.E ford aux04 does this. I just hooked it up and converted the phono plugs to 1/8" jack and installed it in my dash. Basically can play ANYTHING that has a headphone output. See the thumbnail, the jack is just rt of the stereo. Stealthy.
Followup. I waited ten days for the local Ford dealer to get a TripTunes auxiliary input module and I showed up at the service appointment today to have it installed. I looked at the module and it is an FM radio tuner modulator. I had confused the Ford-supplied TripTunes accessory with the PIE FRD04-AUX interface. Both retail for about $100, but the TripTunes brings the signal in via FM radio modulation and PIE FRD04-AUX brings the singal into the Shaker radio's aux input via a true wired pre-amp input. So I ordered the PIE interface from elsewhere and I'll have it installed later. But not a total waste at the dealership today: they mounted my Valentine 1 radar detector today, and wired it to ignition power. Nice job.
oh man, I read this too late. I got the triptunes. Does anyone have the TripTunes installation PDF that seems to be guarded by the dealers/manufacturers?
I have a 2006 V6 and I too wanted to hook up my MP3 player to that stupid Shaker 500 radio and the dealer had a third party give me an estimate of $250 dollars. Then they told me that it would be a FM modulator so I said forget it. I may replace the radio with something else completely in order to do the MP3 thing. How easy is it to install that PIE FRD04 Aux interface and what else would I need with it if anything. Thanks.

Hi
I just wanted to say that I installed the P.I.E. last Saturday and it took about an hour and a half. The instructions posted are excellent. If I were to add anything I would say that at least on my '05GT, the hardest part was disconnecting and reconnecting the Heat and A/C connector. Takes a bit to fugure out the little levers that release it. On mine I ran the audio cable back into the console and connected my Sirius SV1. It worked great and the sound is as good as the Shaker can be. I did exactly as the instructions suggested and soldered the power wires for the P.I.E. to the power for the Aux Power jack on the panel. Anyway it woked fine and if you take your time and think it through you can do a good job on the install and add a good capability to your Pony. Make sure you have that audio cable before you start!

Does the frd04-aux remove the ability to use the 6 disc changer for the shaker 500 system. I have an 05 mustang with the shaker 500 and want the ability to hook up my xm through the aux input without losing the 6 disc changer . Thank you for any help
