Default 5.0 Questions...

Hey guys, I've got a 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo (3.0 I-6) with a 3 inch cat-back, 3 inch downpipe, intake and 11lbs of boost. I raced this guy in his F-body 5.0 today and he pretty much spanked me. He said all he has is an H-pipe, an intake and 3.75 gears. We went from a 3rd gear roll and he just pulled and pulled. I know the cars were under rated by Ford as far as HP goes (I heard it was rated at around 210HP but really has 225-230?). Anyways, I SHOULD be around 300HP with my mods, at least 290. The guy also said his 3.75 gears helped his top end. So just jumping on here to get some feed back (like if the guy had more than what he said, or if it's just that fast). Thanks a lot!

well no offense to begine with but a fox 5.0 with just an h-pipe intake and 3.73's (there r no such thing as 3.75's) is not fast. escepially in 3rd. therefore your car( once agian no offense) ain't all that fast. But to answer your question what probably gave him the edge was the gear. and no it won't give u better top end. compared to a 4.10 it will but compared to the stock 3.27's or smaller it's got more lowend power not top end.

thanks for the info. My car isn't exactly running right at this moment anyways. I REALLY need to change my plugs out (might as well do the wires at the same time). And I gotta clean my intercooler soon (get rid of all the oil and dirt deposits from over the years). That'll help free up airflow a bit. And Supras aren't no light-weight. Hell, the stock drivers seat weighs AT LEAST 120lbs (all that electric b/s). So Imma take care of some other maitence things and take out a few pieces of the car that I don't really need to save weight, and race the guy again.

V-6 to V-8 Conversion

I need some help on figuring out the fuel system on my recent motor swap (V-6 to V-8)

I have the stock fuel pump in the tank from the V-6, and a Holley regulator (carb application)

The problem is; The fuel pressure rockets to 30psi even if it is at it lowest setting....

The car has 2 lines running from the tank, one is the pick-up, and I'm not sure what the other is.... maybe return??

Any help would be a great asset!!! I want to drive it bad!!

Turbo supras are sweet ass cars but you must be having a serious problem if you got smoked by a basically stock mustang. Sounds to me like you got snuck. Damn NOS is tricky like that.

I have to agree with noslow50 ( cool name by the way ), 3.73's won't help you in the high end, and 3rd gear is a sh*tty roll!!!!! however, if you have 290- 300 rwhp, and he smoked you badly then he was probably full of sh*t!!!!!!
