So my good friend takes his crappy s10 and backs up into the front right end of my hood/front quarter panel/bumper. the ding is small but noticable, it will take money on his end but he wants to have him and his professional friends do it for a fraction of the cost from the ford collision center....
im worried what i should do, because i dont want to involve the insurance company because it will cost him lots of money. on the other hand if i dont involve a professional paint and body shop im worried that the work wont be perfect, which is all i really care about...
so do i screw my friend, or risk having my baby ghetto rigged back together?

You said "him and his professional friends", do they have a body shop? Or just some guys that like to do body work? If it is not a body shop I would have to say make him cough up and bring in to a body shop that you believe in. I go screwed on a deal like this from a friend. Never again.
A real friend would make sure it was taken care of properly. Check the guy out and see if he is a pro. Once you let one little ding or scratch go it can be a down hill roll..

If they do own a body shop or work at one that they can use to fix it.. Id say go for it. If they are gonna try to do it any other way... DO NOT do it. Ive heard horror stories on stuff like this. And that is a good point.. if hes a real friend he will want it taken care of right. If hes just thinking of himself, being selfish, and not respecting you then he is not a friend but just a hangout buddy. Hangout buddies are not worth that much money.. lol.
