Everybody's had their stories, and I have one of my own now...

I'm driving up a hill by my house on the way home from work tonight, minding my own business. It's a small, two lane road. I'm going around a blind curve when all of a sudden I feel like I get punched in my face and my mirror's missing. I almost drove into a tree on the side of the road. Some a-hole going the other way thought it would be fun to take a wet towel and hit someone with it going the other way. They hit me in the face and knocked my mirror off. It's not like they knew me or anything because it was a blind curve and they couldn't see me. I don't even know what the car looked like. I pull off to the side and the woman behind me pulls and asks what the hell just happened. She didn't even get the color of the car either.

Sorry, I just had to vent and I know you guys would appreciate how big this if it happened to one of your cars...

I can only imagine how pissed you must be! And, it sounds like there's no way to find these scoundrels either.

yeah, my neighbor talked me into going. I felt kind of dumb when they were asking me what the people or the other car looked like. When I finally snapped out of the daze and realized what happened, I made sure to go by the Quick Check where a lot of the kids hang out just to see if anyone would bite and run. Needless to say, I didn't find them. They were probably long gone anyway.

It turns out some guys threw water balloons over one of the fences, two of them hit right on the windshield. we went back and found a bunch of broken balloons in the street, so we weren't the first. We went around to the front of the house and found a couple of guys around 18 looking guilty as hell. They denied it, so we left and came back later with a policeman. They continued to deny it, but at least we made them sweat!! The cop really gave them hell :)

yeah, I had the top down. They got a direct hit on me. It's a good thing I had my hat on, or else I might have gotten it in my eye or something. I guess I should be happy that the paint wasn't messed up. It only took off the mirror. I'm going to take it to the dealer to get fixed, hopefully it won't be too much.

I thought it was a water balloon too, but then the lady behind me pulled up and said that it was the car that passed and I saw the towel on the ground in the middle of the road. I thought that I was going to be hunting for some little kids with balloons...in a way, that would've felt better. But for someone to drive by and do something like that...

Anyway, I called up the dealer this morning, and it might cost me $230 if they have to replace the whole mirror. Only the glass popped out, but it might have screwed up the rest of it. They'll have to give it a once over. All I know is that it really sucks trying to check your mirror and only to have it not be there...especially when getting onto the highway.

u COULD say that u cought a small branch and that the minimal damage to the out side of the mirror assembly isnt conclusive with the glass falling out, there fore a BADLY installed mirror.

Probably because I used to throw water balloons at cars quite frequently when i was 18....only got caught once and the cops couldn't do anything but make us pop all the filled up balloons....it was funny trying to watch the cop pick up a garbage bag full of water balloons and try and throw it on the ground to smash them....when he could hardly pick it up, and softly chunked it on the ground, they all just rolled out of the bag.....with some dumb ass look on his face he just told us to smash them all and pick up the trash...

man, that look on is face was priceless....

but anyway....hahaha

well, considering that Dichlorodifluoromethane (R-12) has been phased out and you can't find anymore and difluoromonochloromethane (R-22) are really the only refrigerants commonly referred to as "freon" (mainly by automechanics and maintanence workers), and R-12 has pretty much been phased out, and R-22 must be phased out in the next 6 years, there isn't much readily accesible to huff.....

R-134a isn't as good as the old R-12 to huff, but I will tell you, the new R-410a is actually pretty good..its thermodynamic properties are not as good as the older HFC and CFC, but it tastes better.....

I'm not certain what the tactic is here...

Do you ban anyone who has a debate with someone on your forums? How does one qualify for getting banned? Is there a warning issued prior to banning? The warning is key because it allows those who own the forum to dictate the rules clearly without misunderstanding.

How do you prevent someone from just asking their service provider to expire the lease on their IP or otherwise use a forged IP?

I don't know the entire history behind this guy and his posts, and I'll admit not everything he said was appropriate, but this is an internet forum and people will often be a bit more verbal then they are in real life... it's what makes the internet so fun!

I'm not defending one person, but I always wonder when someone gets banned, who will be next? I know it's a private forum an you can institute any rule you want, but also don't you want to encourage good debates and discussions?

well drew a few things may have led to his ban. telling everyone he wished they were on flight 93 is one. alot of his posts were deleted do to content. it takes alot to get banned/ heck lx200 and i got into it pretty good a few days ago and he is still here. i even sent him a link regarding something he needed. i understand that the internet is a fun place. but this is an information forum. we come here to chat and exchange ideas about our cars. we all have our opinions and they may not all be the same. and thats ok. but it dosent give someone the right to explode like this guy did. i actually am surprised it took as long as it did to ban him. good luck and enjoy yourself here.

you see, what the real problem here is the lack of a sense of humor. Not only do I not know any of the people from a hole in the wall, I don't care to know them, their families, their dog or their hamsters. you see, this all started by me making a comment that I would rather hit a dog then swerve and hit a curb and screw up my car, which has been echoed by others and the fact that I laughed about some guy getting hit in the face with a wet towel while driving. Those two comments made everyone jump down my throat calling me insensitive, a moron etc....so I just kept it up because people got all up tight about it. Equate what I was doing to teasing your little sister....I just kept saying things that I knew would keep people riled up because frankly, I found it amusing how people just couldn't let it go.

As far as threatining other peoples family members, come on...choke someone with a kielbasa?? if you can't see the sarcasm in that you are retarded. That little rant was simply in response to someone saying they would come after me with a baseball bat if they saw me run over their dog and I was simply responding tounge in cheek to point out how moronic that comment was.

As far as me getting banned, apparently it didn't work.....do it again if you must, but I promise I won't lose any sleep over it. Personally, I think it is a bit hypocritical since someone said they would bash in me and my car with a bat, and i was called just as many rude names as i dished out...yes I went overboard with the flight 93 comments, but hey, I knew it would really piss some of you off.

Well I can honestly say that type of situation would be one where I'd be glad to have my mustang. I prolly would have pulled over, then immediately done a 180 and been speeding around to try and find these a'holes. Probably not smart, and probably wouldn't have found them but it would have been the perfect car to use to try and find em. Hope everything goes alright and all I can say to those idiots is die in a fire lol.
