Default How long are you Warming up your Stang?

how long does it take for you to warm up your car? or what do you recommend? im warming it up for about 10 min, and then drive it slow until it warms up.

my usual drive to work is 3 minutes so I usually dont warm it up, unless I'm going somewhere for a longer drive

Let it run for about 3-4 mins and drive under 2k Rpm till it runs at around 180 degrees.

yea it usually doesnt go past the 2mark, so it never shows up to the middle unless i turn the air on, in traffic. but also my RPM's is always showing that its on 3000, could it be something wrong or is this normal? (im pretty sure its not normal so excuse my stupidity) lol

I am a big believer in not letting an engine just idle to warm it up. I usually let it idle until the fast-idle kicks down (about 20 seconds), and then just drive with a girlie foot until the engine is good and hot. By the way, I wish I could help you with your second question, but frankly, I don't understand it.

I also let it come down then drive like normal, have also heard of people having problems with rusting out exhaust from condensation from letting it idle to long on cool mornings.

Ive also heard from a friend of mine who used to race stock cars, he would always tell me once you get good oil pressure going thats about all you need. Its starting to look like most people get in and drive.

depends how cold it is outside, when i lived in ohio and illinois. in the winter time i would crank on it until i seen the oil pressure gauge move then i would pump the gas and crank it.
if you only drive it 3 miles to work and back, let it warm all the way up to operating tempetures
if you drive it 30 miles or more, let it warm up a little and go
city driving or short runs on a car is the worst
because the motor doesnt ever get hot enough to burn all the bad additives out of the oil
and that causes... you know.. sludge!!!! and oil pumps too go out, and so on
