im really wondering... they produce 400 hp and have around the same weight as the mustang ... ( not sure about the camaro ) but the challenger does ... so what i want to know ... is all they say is just comparing thier cars with our 300 ho mustangs .... i dont think its fair .... they should've had them atleast 350 hp so it would be a close challenge.... but now with 100 hp diffrence .. i dont think it's possible for us mustang owners to compete with them .... and also you cant compar the gt500 with them because the gt500 is 100 hp more than them .... so i dont know how to explain it ...
but do u guys think with just few mods such as CAI,custom tunes,UDP, and 4.10 gears ... is it possible to beat them ? i know people are not sure about thier production but i heard the chellenger is already in production and has almost same specs as the concpept one.
I agree with shifty101. The more engine options the better. They should drop a 5.4 in a mustang and call it a Mach 1, or some other special edition to compete with the 400hp Challanger and Camaro.
yeah that may be for the upcoming years ... but im currently talking about our 05-06-07 normal GT's ... i mean that they made those challengers and camaro's to challenge the mustangs... but thier 100 hp's over us.... so i dont think its a fair race... unless they are heavy cars ... for example look at the chaerger srt8 and the 05 mustang GT ... there isnt much diffrence when thier head to head... the charger srt8 is a little bit faster .... and with just few bolt on's the mustang is ready to kill the charger srt8 ... so do you guys think the new challenger and camaro will be the same ?
and speaking of a S.E mustang there is already the parnelli jones mustang ... it has a 5.0 motor with around 370 hp and it's N/A ... and there is the roush stage 3 and the steeda Q525 ... and all these mustangs ... dont forget the shelby ones ....
the 4.6 has plenty of hp's left. but Ford was smart. its a new concept for an engine, 3v modular. the computer in 05-06 mustangs is so much smarter and faster than anything ever before. the point of keeping the numbers low at first is to see how well it takes. if the engine has problems on the new computer, or tuning isnt as easy as theyd like, it can be changed. but it seems to be EASIER than expected. with just a tuner and cai you can grab 30 hp. this is due to the new processor picking up on smaller changes than before, and adjusting more often and more efficiently. so yeah, stangs can be a heck of a lot faster in a simple 1 hour mod. but would it sell it any better if they had given it 350 hp out of the box? probably not. reliability is the key.
i agree that ford should have several engines to select for the GT. but thats just my opinion i dont think ford would put a 5.4L engine in the GT. but it would be nice to have that option

I'd put money on a 5.4L special edition (Boss, Mach 1, etc.), but not until the Camaro or Challenger's get built (assuming they do) , then they'll price it accordingly to match them.
