My 05 N/A started making a clunking noise (sounds like its coming from the front left) a few days ago. It makes the noise when it hits bumps in the road and most of the time when making a left turn. i can't reproduce the sound while sitting still, but it does it regularly when driving. i noticed a greasy film on the front left shock that i thought was brake dust, but its not on the front right. any one have any ideas? i guess i will be calling the local ford dealership monday. will they say anything about the CAI kit and or the new tune on the car because of warranty? i only have just over 1000 miles on the car.

Just had mine fixed. It's the front sway bar link that is loose. They need to re-torque it and all is good. Not sure why everyone is having the issue, but it seems they are not torquing the bolts enough
is this something i can fix or do i need to take it in? taking my car in is a last resort as far as i am concerened. there are very few saleens in my area and i am sure there will be some joy riding.

I hate leaving my baby off more from the aspect of them damaging things or dirtying them up. Dings, gashes etc, is my fear. the car is tough enough to withstand a joy ride, but a ding is forever! Bring it in to a good dealer and wait for the car, that will get them minimal time "alone" with her.
i heard the same noise yesterday.... right as i was making a left u turn... and the whole f-ing thing snapped right off!!! was not happy, bringing it to ford on monday. hopefully they fix it without giving me a hard time
Good luck doing it yourself - I tried to torque mine yesterday while the wheels were off and they are VERY tight. I also noticed on my sway bar a DISTINCT black mark where the tire is just barely rubbing against it on turns. My theory is that when the car is in a turn, the sway bar is doing its job, and when hitting a bump is flexed into the tire - thus the "clunking noise" we are all hearing. I personally don't see how loosening and re-torqueing the bolts will prevent this noise. I'm content to leave mine be - as I know it is not loose and in danger of falling off as all the bolts were damn tight under there - and the factory paint stripes (warranty evidence) are still lined up on all the bolts.
The greasy film you are seeing on the shock/s is most likely a mixture of break dust and road grime. Better to be up in there than on your wheels
Mahosk are you saying your sway bar fell off [&:][&:][&:]
