well for a couple of weeks now my buddy has been talking smack about how his mach 1 will eat me( 01 bullitt). Well we finally got to put the cars to the test beautiful day out and to some open roads.

Well lets start with the mods for his 03 mach 1 with cat back and short throw shifter that is about it pretty much stock

Mine is mac o/f H pipe, flow catback, centerforce dual friction clutch, jlt cai, FRPP 4.10 gears, diablo predator paritially tune by someone with a wideband o2, not dyno tune yet and ud pulleys oh and some autolites cooper plugs if you call that a mod lol. Oh fogot to mention my buddy ported my throttle body just a bit.

We did 3 runs...
First one, off the line he pulled slightly ahead cause I got caught in a little tire spin (hehe) but needless to say it wasnt much he pulled ahead cause I beat him by a half car.

second run.... I smoke him by almost a full car length

and finally the third run and 100 bucks in my pocket, I smoked by 3/4 of car... Keep in my we figured out roughly on this open road roughly a quater mile run maybe a little over or little under, it was not 100% accurate but 3/3 and the bullitt wins. Now I dont no if it was luck or driver error or good even match up but I called them 3 wins for the bullitt. The car is not dyno tuned just yet neither so hopefully it will get a bit better with a dyno tune.

Oh next up is my buddy with his 2001 cobra.....totally stock. So I am hoping that I do well against him. That is tomorrow..........hehe.

Engine and transmission modifications

The new cast aluminum intake manifold has an increased runner diameter to maintain low-end torque and provide a broader power curve for increased top-end performance.
A twin 57mm-bore throttle body replaces the GT 65 mm throttle body, allowing for quicker throttle response and increased peak flow.
To reduce parasitic losses, the alternator pulley was increased to 66 mm and the water pump pulley was increased to 140 mm.
The exhaust system has been retuned to increase flow approximately 20% and give the Bullitt a new distinct sound.
All Mustang Bullitts will have the new TR3650 transmission and clutch assembly that provides improved shift quality. A new 11-inch flywheel and clutch assembly have been added to increase torque capacity and reduce clutch pedal efforts.

Besides that the bullitt was underrated. They dyno like 15 more whp stock than a 2v GT. I have seen 2 run high 13s stock.

The 01 cobra is rated right and the 03/04 mach (if its a manual) is under rated a little bit..

Ohh... and the Mach has a solid axle and 3.55's in the rear. The Cobra has an IRS and 3.27's in the rear.. the mach's routinely run faster then the 01/99 cobra's.

thats a hell of a kill. the machs can easily see mid 13s no problem. i say u prolly out drove him. and the bullets werent all that different than the other GTs. it was either MMFF or mustang enthusiast that did a side by side on their dyno and it didnt take much to put a normal gt ahead of the bullit according to their dyno (just some simple bolt ons, i think just intake and xpipe or pulley). didnt the bullit have the cobra intake on it?

If he can beat a Mach 1 with a couple of bolt on's than he can beat a stock 01 Cobra. Mach 1's are faster than all Cobras, except the 03/04's.

heres the question of the day tho. all the guys on the forum here will agree that a mach 1 is about neck and neck with the ls1 f bodies. but i dont think any of them will say that a bullet with a couple bolt ons will take an ls1 tho. and a bullet is in effect a GT with a couple bolt ons. i think the cars just have an upgraded intake right? if i remember right the motor and valvetrain are the same, as well as the trans and final drive. i want to say the only difference is an upgraded upper intake to one similar to the cobra. the cars are underrated tho, but not that much. they for sure dont have 20 hp over the GTs, more like 10, maybe 15. i think u may have some trouble with that cobra if the guy can drive, because I think u just drove circles around ur buddy with the mach1 (but ya know? saying u took someone out with a lower powered car aint bad either sometimes id rather tell someone im a better driver than him than i beat him with a better car.) heck, i know a guy in town here that took out a built and SC'd fox supposedly the fastest car in nashville with his nearly stock 05 GT. hes just got an x-pipe and dyno tune for power adders i think. killed the guy 2x. A kills a kill, but let us know how the cobra deal goes down, and good luck.
