I'm doing an engine swap on a "68 coupe with a 289 engine and an automatic tranny.I cant break the tranny cooling lines from the tranny. My question is this, is there an alternative to these copper lines like braided steel maybe? Where can I get something better?
The lines are so tight that i'm starting to strip the fittings and I'd like to replace them if I can >.....THANX

Try tightening it just a little, it should break lose. Then wiggle it back and forth untill it comes free. Be careful not to twist or kink the lines. Some PB Blaster works wonders on them, and most of mine are rounded off my vise grips. A good line wrench that will fit in there only comes off a truck, like SnapOn, Mac, or MATCO.

Thumpin has got the trick. that should work for you. Your lines should be steel not copper. Copper should not be used it is too soft.

I had to drop my transmission before I could finally get some vice grips on the upper line. That is one tight fit!

be sure to use a line wrench so you do not round the heads
