Default what speedo gear do i need

if i put 3.73's into my 95 gt? can somebody re-post that list? On the other hand, is a speedo gear the way to go, or is a programmer better?

it looks like your gonna have to swap to a 7 tooth drive gear if your car came stock with 3.27s... that would be the best way to go. you can leave your speedo sensor gear alone

so what you're saying is that its impossible to switch to a 3.73 (and have the speedo corrected) with my car? or if i want to, i have to rip apart my tranny? that SUCKS if its true.

actually, replacing the drive gear is relatively easy, you dont even have to take the trans out fo the car, just drain the fluid, and remove the tail section of the trans, once its out, there is a small clip that holds the drive gear in place. pop the old one out, new one in, and then clean up the two halves of the housing. use some black RTV and seal it up. Leave the sections to dry for a little bit, last thing you want si to create a leak. I would recommend just leaving it to set over night, the next morning, fill up the tranny, and you should be all set.

and the easiest way to fill the transmission is actually from INSIDE the car. make sure your drain plug is tight and remove the fill plug from the side of the tranny. take out your shifter, and pour the trans fluid right in through the hole. once you get to the 3rd quart you will wanna look under the car and see if its beginning to pour out the fill hole. once it starts coming out, you know its full. pop the fill plug back in and re-install your shifter.

hmm, that doesnt sound too bad actually. a pain in the ass, but i guess its not too bad of a fix. i was hoping i could just have my mechanic pop the 3.73s in and i would be able to just stick a new speedo gear in there, but i guess its going to be more involved than that. [:@] thanks for the advice though!

I have the 8-tooth green drive gear and went w/ a 23 tooth white speedo gear ($12 Ebay). Just installed it, but my car is not running yet, so I'll let you know how it works. I have 3.55's, BTW. 3.73's are supposed to use the same gear.
