Have you guys heard about Coates spherical rotary valve cylinder heads? I read an article on how they applied them to a 5.0 and it raised the redline to 14,000 rpms. And gave it over 550 horse power but they didnt say what they had to mod on the motor if anything. I could'nt pull hardly any more info then what I got from their site so if anyone has anything let me know cause I am curious.
Its only a demonstration of the capabilities of the heads. No one spun a 5L V8 14,000 rpm. I don't think you could physically spin a rotating assembly the size of our motors that fast, let alone on parts out of the jegs catalog.

uuuhhhh... These heads are not out of the jegs catalog and as far as I know they arent even available to the public as of right now, and if they were they would carry an estimated price tag of fifteen thousand dollars. check out the website at www.coatesengine.com... It must be nice to express your thoughts about something which you know nothing about.

Hey stupid... Read my post through before you jump my ****.
you said - I read an article on how they applied them to a 5.0 and it raised the redline to 14,000 rpms. And gave it over 550 horse power but they didnt say what they had to mod on the motor if anything. I'm saying, you CAN NOT modify a 5L V8 in any way to make it withstand 14,000 rpm... ESPECIALLY on your average hot rod parts, that you would order out of Jegs, or similiar catalog. So, learn to read. Learn basic comprehension skills.
P.S. Your the idiot that thinks some guys put some magical F1 heads on a 5.0 and revved that **** up to 14,000 and made 550 horsepower... Do you believe in the tooth fairy, too?

Hey before you get your panties all in a bundle why dont you check out coatesengines.com and read up a little if you can and they are not some magical cylinder heads, they replace the whole existing poppit style valve system completely and eliminate hundreds of moving parts, and the spherical rotary valve cylinder heads do not require oil, and also move 150% more cfm than conventional poppit heads.... srvc heads (331cfm) poppit heads(125cfm). do the math and think before you speak. you made it sound like the heads were from jegs in your previous post.. Little hint specifics never hurt anyone. The little tooth fairy comment was cute, what are you fourteen ...? come on, unless you have something usefull to say noob keep your mouth shut and let the grown ups do the talking. Now that being said , if you would like to learn something about innovative technology in internal combustion engines check out that web site and read up on it .... p.s. you can thank me later.
I'm telling you right now, you can put whatever heads on a 5.0 you like and it isn't going to rev anywhere near 14,000 rpm. The rotating assemby (do you know what that is?) will not spin that fast. PERIOD.
I never made it sound like the heads were from Jegs, but you thinking the motor may not even need to be modded is retarded. Building a whole short block out of the best production parts you can find will not bring you anywhere near capabilities of 14K rpm.
Heres what you should do. Run your gay little self down to the local community college, and sign up for the most basic physics class offered. Maybe then you would understand whats going on, before you turn all hypocritical on me and twist yourself up in a knot.

I appologize if I'm being brash. I thought my original post was pretty easy to read, no intent to be arrogant or anything. Anyone else have anything to add?

I would like to see a link directly to the article refrenced above.
I also would have to agree I there is no practical way to spin any V8 small block 14k RPMs, theoretical redlines are worthless. It doesn't matter that the head will work to those RPMs because the motor would grenade its self long before 14k RPMs. On a race only NA V8 you might see 8500-9k RPMs but to increase that another 5k RPMs is a lot to ask. These are motors using lightweight cranks, aluminum rods, lightweight pistons, and lightweight valvetrains I can promise you that you wouldn't want aluminum rods on the street.
