Default removing cylinderheads

do i need to take off my rocker arms and pull out my push rods before i pull of the heads or can i take them off with the push rods still inplace?

I would recommend loosening the rocker arms (but leave them on) and slip the push rod out of the seat in the rocker arms and then remove them before taking the head off because if you don't remove them first then you will have to be very careful while you remove the head so that it doesn't slip back down and dmg one of the push rods while your taking it off... but to give you a simple answer to your questions yes it is possible to take the heads off without removing the rocker arms.

after loostening the rockers remove the pushrods then remove all bolts but 1 and losten the last bolt. take a putty knife and place it between the heads and the block. hit it with a hammer to break the head loose. if that 1 bolt isnt there the head will go sliding off and fall onto the floor.
