Default Why did I get a black car!?!? (swirls-N-paint)

Alright, I used to have a black Dodge Ram and when I got rid of it I told myself I would never again buy a black truck/car, but I did. My 2001 Mustang GT is black and covered with swirls now. What would be the best polisher/buffer and everything for me to use? Also, what detailing equipment should I use to make sure that this is never a problem again? Thanks for any and all help!

try getting an orbital buffer from like lowes... the one with two rotors and theres stuff at like targer or autozone to HELP get swirls out... never had to use it though so i cant tell you thats going to work great but the buffer WILL help

Check out the Porter-Cable 7424 at autogeek.net
A wise investment that will deliver pro results. I have bought cheaper buffers from target and have given them away.
There is no comparison between the Porter-Cable 7424 (DA) and a department store orbital. IMO you'd be throwing money away by buying a cheap orbital (I did). Good luck. Later.

And BTW black Stangs are awesome. That's why I wouldn't skimp when it comes to buying the right tool to give the paint that mirror
look. My Stang is white (which I like and I stole this car) but when black is done right, it looks awesomer (is that a word?). But then if it's a clean/detailed Stang, I like 'em all. Later.

I have a black '05 so I feel your pain, my friends diss on me because I'd rather spend all of my free time with my car! lol I like Meguiar's deep crystal system polish followed by Zymol cleaning wax. I had my car detailed "professionally" ONCE and it came back with swirls all over its ass end and the Meguiar's got rid of them. Now my car is so shiney it could blind you in direct sunlight.

If you're getting chronic swirls or spiderwebbing, I'd wonder what you're doing with your wash and dry routine. A little "encyclopedia" I find useful is the printout I made from www.detailguide.com -- often the spiderwebbing is introduced due to wrong chemicals, equipment/towels or technique.
