Who would win between the two a brand new mustang gt 2006 vs a 1997 camaro ss with automatic and teh gt is a manual transmission both are stock. Who would win in an all out drag race.

97 maro is an LT1, so you will win, if it was an LS1 he would have you, however if you screw up he will have you, and the 4L60-E auto tranny in the maro is just as fast if not faster then a 6 speed

i have the 06 gt with the diablo and 3.73's and i pulled my friend with his 01 trans am. he is automatic but he has a diablo, shift kit, 3.55's, intake, cat back exhaust, shorty headers, no cats, and a 315/45/r17 bfg drag radials. we went from a roll he got me the firs time (late reaction) but the next time we hit it at the same i pulled him from first to third gear. at the end of the race i was out in fron by about !/2 a car. he was supprised. he must weigh alot because he made 330hp and 321trq on the dyno. but one thing he has over me is nitrous he sprays a 125 shot of nitrous, but he didnt spray on me it was just motor aginst motor.

the gt should easily pull away, assuming a good driver mod in in place
the situation would reverse if it were a 98 SS, which usually run 13.2-13.6 stock, while our gt would run about half a second slower stock

Vs the LT1 camaro SS which only has cosmetic modifications over the base z28 it would be your race to lose. Later on in the years Chevy gave the camaro a detuned version of the LS1 with 335hp. A manual shift or 4L60E auto would take the cake on a stock 05 GT

I dont ever remember a Camaro rated at 335 HP. You wanna show everybody where you found this. The only thing you have correct is that a LS1 car will beat a new Mustang stock for stock.

Anyways you will beat the LT1 Camaro.

I stand corrected, the newer camaro SS's carry a 325hp LS1 motor and 340lbs of torque.

You can check the overview of the car here,

See, you were wrong, 325 is the correct answer. You should know that being a GM guy

either way isnt that 325hp pretty under-rated?
