i got that one but is there not one on the block its self i need to take off my intake manifold and its still got coolant in it? If theres not how would i go about taking it off with out getting coolan in my heads?

Drain the petcock on the rad and leave it open. Start the car and let it run for a few minutes for the pump to draw all the fluid out of the block and throw it into the rad where it will drain. The only other way to drain the block is to take out a freeze plug.
Arent there pipe plugs (3/8)cast into the sides of the block? I know Ive seen them on a engine I cant remember if it was a ford.
Edit: I looked at a pic of my 67 289 and one is on the side of the engine opposite of the oil filter. Small square pipe plug towards the front of the engine. There is another one on the oil filter side of the engine back towards the transmission.
The freeze plugs are along the side of the engine and are recessed into the block. They are smooth and about a 1 1\2-2" in diameter. They are under the cylinder heads. You cant miss em. And as soaring said pulling one will empty the block. The pipe plugs are small threaded square plugs that stick out from the block. Im not sure if all years of small bocks have them but I know mine does.
Yea, there's two block coolant drain plugs (square head) on the 289. One is passenger side front - right next to the bolt that holds alternator ground/ battery ground/ transmission lines bracket. The other is driver's side rear.
