View Full Version : '06 Mustang Wave

I've had a few good experiences with putting up a "#1" or a small head nod when another '06 Mustang comes my way, however there's been a few times where they don't do anything back. Am I alone on this or do you guys do it too? I've also had a few of them park next to me too. I think that's pretty cool.

Heck, I even give a "thumbs-up" to the '65s - lol

Don't always get an acknowledgement back, even from the '06 folks, but that's okay.

i wave most of the time. i get about 50% waves back. most of the other 50% aeren't paying attention and the other precentage are just not the wave type.

Haha, I'm not hating on any other years. It was cool one time on I-95 a Red stang just like mine and I flew at about 100 from Georgia to North Carolina...a fun trip indeed.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Drivers of Ford trucks have given me the most thumbs up. And the second group are what I call "people who drive cars I'd want" i.e., Porsches, Mercedes, Vettes, etc. Oddly enough though, I really don't see all that many '05-'06s around the Chicago area. I might see one other new style Stang between my commute to-and-from work, not including the three others in the lot where I work.

I finally gave up on waving, it seems that 90% of new Mustang drivers in the DFW area are women talking on their cel phones. I respect and admire the women on these forums that are true Mustang fanatics, but the women I see around here don't seem to know a Mustang from a Civic. I look and if the other driver waves I'll wave back, but it's very rare and almost always is a guy in an older Mustang.

Yeah, it's also a tad embarassing when you have a passenger with you and the other stang doesn't wave back...

Hehe. I've come to the decision that my car is actually invisible to the naked eye.

I try to give the thumbs up at any Mustang I see but no one around here seems to acknowledge it. Heck, I've been next to another s197 at a light, and the guy didn't even look over. I think Ford messed up my paint job. It was supposed to be screaming yellow. Not "only cops can see my car" yellow. :D

it's about 50/50 here , just depends on if they are paying attention or not

I often wave or give a thumbs up or put up the metal horns to people with awesome cars. If I'm next to 'em at a light or happen to be getting gas at the same time as one I always try to get the owner's attention just so I can complement them on their cars - especially with retro-styled or classic cars. They always seem to enjoy the praise even though I'm driving an '89 Corolla. I can't wait till my Mustang arrives so that I can get some complements and thumbs-up back [:@]

I've had my Stang here in Calif since February. I started waving when I saw another '06 or '05. Not much response back so I kind of nod and look over now. Years ago I bought a PT Cruiser and I swear EVERY ONE who had one waved!!

I wonder if people that pass each other while ridding the short bus wave to each other...oh wait...they wave to everyone [8D]

the whole 'Wave cos you have the same car' or 'Hi I have a Muthtang too look at me!' is way ghey...why do you think the PT Cruiser wave caught on...they're ghey...

Sorry, I can't buy into the whole waving thing. Mustangs are cool but waving at each other...

(yes I have a mustang so [8D] )

Hey I invented the short bus so don't stress it. :D Seriously though...I've never understood the whole wave at someone thing..

Think about it...you're on a boat, people on shore feel the need to wave.
You're flying low in a plane/helicopter, whatever, people on the ground feel the need to wave
Parades...well..okay fine...I can give that one a pass

Am I missing some needy gene here that gives me the urge to wave in certain common situations?

Hmmmm...maybe. Are there people that you see several times a day, yet still say "Hi" to every time you see them (i.e., work, school, etc.)? I do...but then again...that's me. Now I thought of that Seinfeld episode about that...;)

crap, got me there [:@] It's like a knee jerk reaction too, Right after I say it I'm like "dammit why'd I do that"? Well the receptionist is cute so I have an excuse there but for the one or two other people a day...

Thanks..now I feel like a 'wave' schmo [>:]

I like it when people wave -- that's one hand that's NOT holding a cell phone!

Apparently, you've simply replaced the "wave at people" gene with the "call everyone in a forum thread retards and 'ghey'(does spelling it that way somehow change the meaning in your world?)" gene.

Yep, you're a noob. Nuff said. As for "correct" grammar and spelling...who cares, it's the internet and I'm playing around. If I want to make a serious point I do pay a little more attention.

Oh and yes g-h-e-y is different than gay [8D]

Oh and as for noob
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=noob
definition 3 works well for you.

Other definitions of noob apply to me I'm sure but for my needs #3 works nicely.

Have a nice day!

wow, way to bust out the technical side Derf00

anyways, i like the wave, i dont really give it anymore unless i am very sure that the other person will give it back (ie: they are looking at me and smiling)
i usually get it from people with sports cars or people who are driving those big-ass f350 things. most waves i get from mustangs are from old guys (they are happy to connect with today's youth?)

OMG  Someone call the uptight police, help! Geez.... no wonder the 05/06 peeps have been accused by other forum members of stickin' in their own little 'clique'

Lighten up a little. If you can't poke fun at yourself, you're no better than those that scream bloody murder or me who teases others. ;)

ehh... I just get bored with people that get all "high and mighty" uptight and can't poke fun at themselves.

Sorry I just find waving at someone because they have the "same car" silly, of course that's no more silly than me say Hi to someone more than once a day or me calling them ghey...

Either way you may have hit on something with that last comment of yours. Who knows...

Okay here's a question to make this more of an intellectual discussion since sarcasim and lightheartedness seem to have gone right over the tops of some of your heads (and you know who you are ;)).

Why do you wave???

O noes, sum1 calld me teh noob!

I love it when people say that they dislike "high and mighty" people while acting high and mighty themselves.

Anyways, I always viewed the thumbs-up kind of like 'the nod' that you get sometimes from random people. It's just a sign of respect/appreciation, that that person or car looks good.

If I saw someone waving like a maniac or something, that'd be wierd.

Heeeyyy watch the spelling [>:] :D And it's not acting high and mighty, it's tryin to get peeps to loosen up.

Nod I can/do do sometimes. I dunno, maybe the wave just takes too much effort [:-]

I think it's like giving thumbs-up or waving to someone who has, say, a bumper sticker of one of your favorite bands or something like that on their car...recognizing a common interest. And like you don't see people who drive Corollas waving to one another, fans of Nickelback are too common to have any unique shared interests based on that similar characteristic. :D (No offense to Nickelback fans :))

If I saw someone waving like a mainiac...they better either be someone I know or my car better be on fire, or else, I'm not even making eye contact!!! [:o]

I get some people that wave back to me in my area. You can usually tell if they're the type by looking at the condition of the car and who's driving. I usually get the thumbs-up from the younger or the older drivers. It's funny when you drive next to a girl and she snubs you though - it's as if you're trying to get into her pants or something because you drive the same car! lol I usually just leave them alone. (Come on, I know I'm not the only one!)

I wave because I want to. I love the car, and always liked the Mustang heritage. Go ask a Harley guy why he wears his Harley logos and puts them on his truck...

Since getting my car, I've been getting road attitude from certain drivers. With my last car, most other drivers probably felt sorry for the poor bastard driving the clapped out '92 Cavalier, and they would often give way to me. Now I'm the a**hole in the silver Mustang. Could be because I'm driving more aggressively now.
