Today i raced a new GTI, it was modded (i know because i could hear the blow off valve). It was just a light to light race, and lets just say i "dropped it like it's hot"
"oh snap"
...for all you fogies who didnt understand the lingo, i won
(all quotes pulled from GTI commercials for those who didnt get it)
Light to light i believe it from a dig we have such a tq advantage, but the new GTI is pretty quick mag times for it are right there with us, if it went farther i think he would've caught you.
Gotta laugh how import guys <mostly Honda, to be fair> almost never want to race from a dig, but rather a high roll, weak sauce.
it could be modded, but if its only a blowoff, then its anywhere from the same hp, to losing hp, not a good mod lol.
stock they are 7.1 to 60, and our autos are 6.9 for the auto. its a close race for sure

yeah... all the import guys only let ya know they want to race after a good roll off the line.... like they want to catch ya by surprise since you've just taken off casually. It's a different culture, eh?
Not all Honda/4cyls guys my friend, there was a guy in NY that went by the name of Frog and this dude before he sold his civic used walk Saleens, Porsche 911 Turbo, and many other bigger displacement vehicles from the dig. B18 civic with a snail pushing 22-24 psi of boost. Off the roll dont even think about it. As long as you have a nice set up an able to use ALS on that engine, then the race with a RWD car will be veryu interesting.
Say man nice kill by the way, good way to start the week!

No doubt there are many many fast Civics out there, esp hatches...but my point is since they almost never have any torque , stockish/basic bolt-on imports usually want to go from a roll so they have an advantage, with a turbo is a different story since he's gonna have torque then. IMO though roll racing really isn't racing though.
i strongly disagree with saying a bov is not a good mod. First of all it protects your turbo from reverse surging that can ruin your turbo. This comes from letting off the throttle. When you let off the throttle, the compressed air from the turbo has nowhere to go so it goes back into the turbo. This can either just slow down the compresser making you have to wait again to build to maximum boost, or it can jam the turbine blades and offset them ruining your turbo. Can you say costly replacement? although it does not increase hp, it will increase performance. Straightline performance will not change, but auto crossing and just track racing in general will increase because you will not have to build up the boost after every turn. That boost will still be built up a fair amount more than it would be without the bov. Although you wont feel a huge difference from a bov in a turbo car, it will be there and it will make your car at least a little more reliable.

oh and the whole imports dont wanna race from a dig thing...the new si can take us in the 1/4 fairly easily and since the rsx-s has almost exactly the same performance (it even has the same engine) those can take us also if our cars were to have equal drivers.

The new Si is right with the auto v6 in the 1/4th, and it doesn't have the same engine as the RSX-S. The RSX-S uses the k20z1 engine for 05-06, rated at 201 chp now <210 before>, the new Si uses the k20z3 rated at 197 chp. The k20z3 is more of a reworked k20a2 <02-04 RSX-S engine> which is rated at 193 chp now, 200 before.
The RSX-S performs better then the Si, not by alot but it has an edge.
