general questions

hey guys, new here

my car is a 66 coupe, straight 6 automatic, ive got new shocks, batterry, alternator, plugs, plug wires, filters, and am starting on the brakes. but i need to ask some questions

does anyone know a good way to strap in my battery, mines just sitting on the tray.......

and my instruments, and radio arent working, but the rest of my electrics are.......like turn signals, lights, wipers.............is that a fuse issue? can anyone offer some advice on this

o and btw im 14 so, not much cashflow...............................

You've got a great start to what can be a very nice car. The end of the battery tray closest to the radiator, should have a "Key hole". A bolt comes up through the bottom and there is a clamp piece that clamps the bottom of the battery to the tray. You can make a piece, or for about $15.00 on ebay, you can buy a whole new tray assembly with this piece. I think the clamp assembly and bolt kit is about $8.00. Go to ebay motors, in the parts section enter "Mustang" and for the years try 1964-1966. That should give you all kinds of stuff to drool over.

As to the electrical, IIRC there are schematics available on line. I can't remember the web site, but a google search for 1966 Mustang wiring schematic should turn something up.

As a suggestion, don't hack anything up. Make sure any mod you make can be easily undone. For example, you could get a piece of 3/16" thick flat stock steel 2"x3" drill a hole and use it as your battery clamp with a regular nut and bolt. Probably cost you less than $2.00. Down the road when you've got some cash, you can easily replace it with the correct part. Keep that in mind throughout the whole car, and you won't regret it later.
