Default 2006 Gt vs 2001 Corvette (stock) auto

I am the Corvette driver. To my amazement, its one of the easiest kills I ever had. I still have alot of respect for Mustangs though. My procharger is due in about 2 weeks.

Doesn't your car run 13.1 secs in the 1/4 mile stock? It should have been easy it the Mustang was stock. I've always liked Corvettes, might buy one in the future, maybe have it parked next to the Stang!

you have 50 more HP and 1.1 L of displacement on us. It still shouldn't be the "easiest kill". These cars are only as fast as the driver...

Oh btw...how much was that vette new? I'm pretty sure we're comparing apples to oranges, but given the lack of real competition in the industry we get put in the same category...fast american made car. I would liken the vette to say...an american porsche (more refined with more thought given to handling), whereas the mustang was designed with a different philosophy, affordable american muscle.

Good for you though, you beat a car that cost 10-15 grand less than yers. Me thinks with that kind of money left over I could beat the new Z06

2001 Corvette Price Guide

Base Corvette Coupe (1) $35,715 $40,725

1YY67
Base Corvette Convertible (1) $41,424 $47,250

1YY37 Base Corvette Z06 Hardtop (1) $42,518 $48,500

ive driven a vette, auto too. Nice ass car, but there no way you killed a stock GT. The stock Gt does a quicker 0-60(4.9) then a auto vette do to the fact that the vettes have more taller gears and its an auto. From a roll is a diff story.

He probably had a miss shift if it was by more than two cars. If by one, he's a bad driver. Actually either way he's a bad driver, next time you post a kill post the details because if I knew that was all you were going to say, just say "01 Vette > 06 GT Easy Kill, respect them though".

The thing is that I follow fords. I have heard numorous stories of GT's(manual) getting the jump on the Vetts. Well I found out for myself. However, you Mustang guys must realize that Chevy added 5HP and a hell of a bump in low end torque in 2001 to the base model Vette. GT's are tough cars and you guys can finally hang with camaros but I had to see what that thing had. It was day time so my air brakes (Head lights) were not out. I was also kind of windy. I think the aerodynamics took over to assist me with this one.

Do you not understand the concept of giving details? Here maybe this will help, i'm not typing loud enough.

WHERE WERE YOU AT, HOW FAST WERE YOU GOING, AND ULTIMATELY HOW MANY CAR LENGTHS?

Also my dad had an 01 Red Vette (auto), which he traded in for an 06 GT like me and I have experienced both but the GT takes the cake especially now with my custom tune and other mods. If you were racing from a roll he probably started off in the WRONG gear, i'm not trying to defend this guy just tyring to show you multiple theories that may have HAPPENED.

When you respond to this message averyr18 focus on the BOLD!!!

No offense man, but 5 hp....wow...that didn't make any difference at all....you can't even feel 5 hp in the seat of the pants. As for the torque, I can understand that if it comes in at a lower rpm......Im with airborne....with the extra money spent on the vette, a mustang could easily have an old KB or Salleen thrown on, and in that case he'd be raping you not the other way around. Its the whole apples to oranges arguement, and I know also thats the whole point in being able to mod your car....I mean im sure with enough $ I could have my stang eating Vipers, Lambos, and what not.....its all in the money. So an 05 GT+KB/Salleen=01 Vette in price, and beat the hell out of it. But I'll give you props on the car, I like vettes, they're good lookin cars...I'm not biased or anything, I even like Camaro's, so I'm not trying to beat on you or anything. Laters,
Cory

We were both at a stop light in Bakersfield Ca. Regular street, few trees, a couple of people aournd, some had jeans some had on shorts. When the light turned green we both floored it. I got a late start but I caught up with him.... he stuck with me up to about 55mph then I started pulling away quite quickly. I had him by 2 car lenths in the end. If it weren't for the mild traffic.. I would have seperated myself some more. I got on my brakes at about 112mph. We both were stock apparently.....he had a manual though. If not it would have been even worse.
