The 04 Mustang that I'm about to buy has the MACH 460 6-CD with Satellite Radio Capability. Who is using this? When you subscribe to XM or Sirius, do you register the radio? Can you listen to satellite radio in your house? Or would I need a removable satellite radio?

Ok...first off you don't get to choose xm or sirius...the head unit is make to work with one of them (if its satellite radio "ready"). It should say either "xm ready" or "sirius ready" somewhere. I have an 03 GT so I didn't have that option (in fact I never heard of it until now). I just put in a full aftermarket system. If you want to be able to use it in your house and your car you need to get one of the external ones with a base station for the car and one for the house (I have XM and love it. Its cheeper by a few bucks and the coverage is great. I can even use it in a multi level parking garage and it works fine.).

I found out later that you still need the satellite radio tuner. The head unit has the controls. The Ford dealer said they could sell me one for $499. Ha! Are they nuts?! I haven't found any aftermarket ones that will plug right into the Ford head unit. Maybe later...

A little off topic but I just noticed that your one mod is you took up the slack on your gas cable....you should take off the air silencer ASAP (its easy and free). It'll let your car breath a little better and it'll sound better too.

Do not get the satellite radio that can be moved between your car and a boombox unless that really appeals to you. The problem with that system is that you arnt getting digital quality sound. It doenst make a huge difference, but or some of us with high end aftermarket systems, it isnt the best idea.

this post is way off topic since this is the electronics forum... but to clarify something real quick removing the air silencer can have an effect either way, positive or negative. It's best to not bother with the stock system and replace it with either a CAI or your own piping with a cloth-type air filter. Please do not post anymore on anyting other than electronics. If you have a comment, post it in the appropriate forum.
