I was waiting to go left out of the Taco Bell onto the main town drag when I looked behind me and saw the nice Dark Blue Camaro I'd seen parked in places around town.

I saw him and gave a little rev, knowing I could'nt race b/c of location and such, just wanted so play and show off a tad with some revs. :)

He pulled into the right lane, me into the left, he wouldnt really make eye contact though, prob. mid 20's, two kids, and i gave it a tiny jump in 2nd around 25, so it lurched good and all.

He couldn't have thought i was racing.. lol, but he nailed it pretty good, and it was pretty loud, souned really nice, deep, throaty, seemed like he took off pretty quick though.

Just wondering who knows much about (is '71 when the Camaro changed body's) cause it was one of those, just wondering what they came with, what kind of potential they had and whatnot.

Like i said, im not planning on racing, and dont know what all he had done, but was wondering about the car.

I raced a 70-81 model z28 at the track last time
here is his times
rt .664
60' 2.422
330' 6.414
1/8 9.664
mph 76.14
1000' 12.445
1/4 14.801
mph 95.75

I dont know if that was about his average or what. Never payed attention to his other runs, but know he was bracket racing the next day.

my times was 14.16@98.44 with a passenger

"The 155-horsepower 250-cubic-inch six was now the Camaro's base engine, followed by the who-cares 200-horsepower 307, the lowliest of V8 offerings. A 250-horsepower two-barrel 350 effectively replaced the 327. Order the SS package and the 350 earned a four-barrel carb and additional compression to reach 300 horsepower. Moreover, SS buyers could pay even more and get a 350- or 375-horsepower 396 big-block V8."

"The star 1970½ Camaro was again the Z/28, now powered by a 360-horsepower high-compression "LT-1" 350. Unlike the high-revving 302 used in the first Z/28s, the LT-1 was easy-going in everyday traffic, still revved with enthusiasm and was now available with an automatic transmission. Car and Driver's test had the '70½ Z/28 ripping to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and running through the quarter-mile in 14.2 seconds at a full 100.3 mph, though the drivers still found it lacking in bottom-end power."

this is where I got it

I actually think i recall seeing a silverish/black LT badge on the rear,,, dont know if it was authentic, but if it was a swap, my guess would be it had some work

, and even if it was original, probably had some work, might have been a good race

I hope to find the guy sometime so i can talk to him since he made no attempt to pull into the carwash i made it evident i was pulling into

I think early 70's are fine for HP/TQ ratings. Its when you hit mid late 70's gas shortages you see every v8 have the HP of a late 80's civic (prolly a little more but you get the point)

yea, hopefully

depending on what engine he had/done to it, it might have been good

like i said, looked like he took off FAST, but ive never been in a car doing 30 and had someone floor mine right next to it, so i cant be a fair judge
