was goin to a friends house in irvine for easter dinner, cruisin down the 405-S, and a modded c5 Z06 with this ghetto ass dude swervin in and out of traffic catches up to me. i knew he was gonna go, so i waited up for him a lil just cruisin at 70ish. he comes from behind me and hammers it as he moves into the lane to the left of me. by the time he caught up to my rear bumper he was goin 8-10mph faster than me, which is when i dropped it to 3rd and hit it. by the time his door was at the front bumper of my car, i was already reelin him back in. when i started pullin back on him we were goin about 120 (top of 4th for me). i shifted into 5th, which is a REALLY tall gear in the s197 stangs, and couldn quite pull all the way back in front of him, but def showed him what was up. i let off between 145 and 150, and he kept goin, but i had my pride. the only mods that were apparent were loud ass exhaust with 4in chrome tips, and it looked like it was lowered for some reason. he probly had an intake of some sorts, but cant prove that. i know it was a z06 because of the notch back window, the badges, and the front fascia.
my mods are in my sig. i put 298/307 to the wheels on a mustang dyno (~325/335 dynojet, and ~385/395 at the engine), and my gearing adds to that, but i was impressed at the ability to hold him off up to 150mph given my horrible aerodynamics and tall 5th gear.
i also had a quick run with a stock lightning on the way back to school, but that wasn even a race.

Those cars run low 12's (sometimes high 11's) at 115-118 mph right off the factory floor. He could miss two gears while pulling a Sea Doo and still outrun a Mustang making <300 rwhp. I don't wanna sound like a jerk, but I'm sure a lot of knowledgeable people will back me on this one.
If you have recently installed a Saturn V rocket to the back of your car, then I apologize and good kill.

tommyv8...you neglect the fact i have an insane gearing advantage up to 120mph. On a side note, the best i've seen a c5 z06 run NA and off the bottle was 12.40s, which is about where i expect to be next time i get to the track (few more basic mods by then tho)
w/e, i enjoy people on mustang forums not believing mustang victories lol. he didn miss a gear, but it don count out the possibility of a bad driver, duh.

he didnt lose as bad as he should have. A bolt on GT (with MAYBE 15hp over stock) and 4.30's is NOT going to reel in a C5 Z06 at any speeds. Sorry, but you ran into an idiot that cant drive, or you just thought you were racing when you really werent.
PS you are nuts if you think you have 385 hp at the fly from pullies and a partial intake.
