I'm looking at my wiring diagram and it shows the distributor wire (the little one that comes out of the base) and the other wire that comes along the driver's side valve cover both go to the coil. But it doesn't tell me which goes to + and which goes to - on the coil. Also, is this all that attaches to the coil, besides the plug wire to distributor?
Thanks,
Rich

The( + )connects to the 12v source from the ignition switch,) -) terminal connect to the distributor, there maybe a tach wire in the harness, if so this also connects to the ( -) side of the coil.

Well, ACtually, most likely, unless it has been changed, you dont have 12 volts running to the coil. IT has a resistor wire, which lowers the voltage. I bypassed mine when i installed the pertronix.

ACTually you are right, but my crystal ball wasn't working to know what he was installing, Thought he
was asking what wires go to the coil.

well yeah. It didn't really matter, but i just wanted him to know it. It could come in handy one day, but you were still right, it comes from the switch to the coil. Ta Da.!! lol

You have three wires hooked up to the coil. The - (black) wire goes to the ground inside the dizzy, and the + (red) goes inside the dizzy to hook up to either the points or Pertronix. The other wire comes from the switch, and is hooked up to the + side of the coil.

ummmm Glen. MY coil only has two wires, and has never had anymore then that. i have the wire running from the switch to the coil. Then the wire( i installed) from the switch to the pertronix. Then you have the negative going to the dizzy. IF you remember, if you hook the pertronix up to the coil, it may not work due to the voltage is lower then 12 volts.

I've got my Pertronix hooked up to my Accel super coil....I haven't had any problems thus far but thanks to a broken water pump mounting bolt....she's not running either
