alright so me and a couple of buddies at work today were talk about a stock mustang vs a stock camaro.. i said that the mustang has always out performed the camaro and they disagreed.. i was wondering if i could get so fact on both and some or your guys input... please dont be bias, i know this is a mustang forum and all but, we all konw what car is always gonna be the best. please take in to fact of lines of car such as cobra, ss, gt ,rs and the price of each staying within the same ranges and year. if anyone know of a good web site please let me know.. we can all swollow our pride and put this one to rest, if im wrong then i will admit it.. thank you for ur help..
camaro has always had more power I think, especially in later years. I think the mustangs tend to hold up a little better though, specially the rear end.
Mustangs were the car to have in 87-93, once Chevy started with the LT1 they were running circles around Mustangs... Now the LS1's are killing Mustangs... A stock LS1 car run lowwwww 13's stock and Mustangs struggle to get a high 13, some freak cars can get a mid 13's, but Camaro's are out performing them by far....

that pretty much sums it up, the LS1's are amazing, and have great potential too. My buddy has an auto '98 Z28 and with gears, stall converter and a cam the car ran 12.3 on street tires

Between 87-93, the Mustang was the car to have.....until 1998 when GM put the Corvette 350TPI into the Iroc-z. For whatever reason, no magazines matched up the 5.7TPI up against the 5.0. Stock vs stock for a G-92 350TPI vs a 5.0, the 5.7 will win.
But anyways, 94-04 GM just mopped the floor with Mustangs, minus the 03/04 Cobra.
Mustangs do not hold up any better than F-bodies, infact F-bodies mechanically are much more sound & have much more potential. While they have typical door sag & GM 10 bolt rear issues, Mustangs are known for sloppy automatics, extremely weak 5 speeds and poor bang for your buck capabilities.

f-bodys started in 93 with the LT1
and for camaros, the 4L60-E tranny is just as fast as the stick if not faster, fords auto in the stangs sucks, the 5 speeds can be somewhat sloppy to, and even the 3800 camaros were faster then the V-6 stangs, they were capable of high 14s
heres the way i look at it. a little SAT analogy for u guys
LT1 is to LS1 as 2V GT is to 3V GT
LS1 is to 3V GT as later LS1 RAM AIR is to 4V n/a.
GM has always been a little bit ahead tho, roughly 15-40 hp ahead. but not too far ahead of the N/a 4v
LS1 is to Terminator as I am to Arnold Schwarzenegger. no questions asked. when people nicknamed it the terminator they were not kidding. this thing takes out low/mid end ferraris BONE STOCK. ive seen it happen.

No the V6 camaro's and birds are faster 94/95 3.8 Stang was only 145hp 96-98 3.8 Stang was 150hp 99-04 3.8/3.9 Stang was 193hp 05-06 4.0L Stang is 210hp
94-98 Stangs 4.6L 2V 215hp (Some 87-93' GT's were rated 235hp, i dont mention them much because I dont know much about them) 94-95 Cobra 5.0L V8 240hp 1995 Cobra R 5.8L V8 300hp 96-98 Stangs 4.6L 4V 305hp 99-04 Stangs 4.6L 2V 265hp 99-01 Cobra 320hp 2000 Cobra R 385 03-04 Cobra 390hp 05-06 Mustang GT 3V 305hp
As you can see the F-Bodies dominated power wise even in the V6 catagories untill just recently, and they still dominate overall. They are cheap to work on and they were cheap to buy new, but who is still in production, MUSTANG BABY! YEAH BABY! :)
There are some higher horsepower F-Bodies that I couldnt find specs on, but some were over 400hp for COPO type orders, of course you could do the same with mustang so it wasnt that big of an issue, anyways these are specs for people with real world credit and money. For those of you looking for quality, the F-Body interior was some of the junkiest cheap interior I have ever seen, Mustang interior is far superior, I am not quite sure on the 05 though, I havnt owned one but from sitting in them I dont like the interior.
Hope those specs helped clear things up.

LS2 is almost on the terminator level.
Ram Air cars had no more HP than other LS1's, I don't give a damn what the ratings were, it was all a marketing plow.

im not sure about that one, i thought the ford's v6 was a bit quicker than the camaro/firebird?
high 14's seems a bit too friendly for an underpowered v6
because the camaro has a bit wider tires, so it will hook up better (205 or 225 for the stang vs 235 for the maro) and the 4L60-E is a 1000 times better then fords 4R70 pos

72MachOne99GT I dont give a damn if you hate it or not, The mustang numbers I knew off the top of my head, and the WS6 and WU6 option as well, the others I didnt know so I did my research which any intelegent person would do to make sure that the numbers were right.
Now the V6 camaro weights about the same as the V6 mustang (3077lbs 5spd) so it basicly comes down to who is the better driver. For pre-99 V6 stangs there is not much of a chance. The mustang V6 should really have a premium option like the SHO Taurus, get a nice DOHC 4.2L in there and kill other sixers, hell they could do an awesome job just with the 3.0 SHO if they updated it. Back in 91' it was 220/200 powerwise which was very impressive. In 99' it was replaced with a 3.4L DOHC V8 pushin 235/230. As you can tell I like the underdog, my First mustang was a 95' V6 but now she is a 95' Mach1 Project.
Another thing that should be taken into concideration when Fox Meets Bird is the different transmission gearing and final gear ratio's.

whoa buddy. lol... i wasnt saying i hate you or anything like that
i said that i hate when we're looking for v6 stats and you threw out every v6 and v8 stat there was (i guess hate was a strong word, but damn man, chill for a second)
i just thought that 99-04 v6 stangs beat up on v6 camaros/birds
i guess i still find it troubling that a 3.8 camaro/firebird is capable of a 14.9, when man fox body and almost all 95-98 GT's had trouble accomplishing that feet
