Default OVERDRIVE!!!

Can someone pleaseeee fill me in on wat the Overdrive does? when do u use it? and do u get better mpg with it on or off?

Overdrive is another gear. It's for milage more than speed.

(atleast on my car) when i have the overdrive on, it knocks my rpm's down on average 1000rpms, hence saving me probably a lot of gas.

overdrive is meant for cruising at higher speeds hence higher rpms like say on the highway. You'll be driving say at 3000 or 3500 rpm, throw (o/d off) on and watch the rpm's drop which will save you on gas because the engine is doing less work

yes it goes in around 35, but its always shifting between third and O/D so unless i go over 50ish i usually just turn it off

I cruise the freeway at about 2grand. If i kill the o/d it goes up to about 3 grand
