I'm not a huge fan of the mangnum's look. I doubt you'd ever see a turbo stang, they'd do a focus before that any day.

correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they do a turbo mustang in like the 80s or something? or maybe that was just a "modified" mustang I saw but it looked stock and said gt turbo on it...hmmmm

I'm so glad you said that. Having actually owned one of those. It required 2 transmissions in the 6 months that I owned it. And I really wasn't that hard on it.

Read up on those. They had HUGE trans problems.

The early 80's Mustang was a turbo 4. Called the SVO.

Go ask any STi driver, they'll tell you the trannys suck. Your buddy is lucky to have a DSM with no problems yet. Welcome to a nightmare.

A 3000GT weighs almost 4000 lbs. Has 3X the power that an Eclipse does. Can't really compare the two. And 98LS1 is correct. That dude is lucky to have no problems with a Mitsu tranny.

I agree!!!!!! People would be blowing up their trannys ALL the time. There is just too much torque for the AWD. The front axle wouldn't hold up long either!

I think they should keep the RWD. If people want AWD bad enough, they will do something about it instead of hope they make a car with it stock. For the price you would pay for a new mustang you could save that, wait a couple years then buy a used one & make an AWD setup for it. Like the mustangs now, Ford didn't make 1000hp mustangs, people put money they saved into it. I've seen some weird setups on cars, a v10 RWD crx, v12 VW beetle, twin turbo 800+ cid mustangs, & a v10 mustang. What would make you think YOU creating an AWD V8 mustang is out of the question?

I agree, leave the Mustang alone. If Ford wants to compete with the WRX then bring the Rally Focus RS over here from Europe and have it tuned by SVT or Saleen.

I don't really know much about the effects of having AWD on the future stangs, but I'm glad they're not keeping this new 05 body style for long. I'm not sure if I like it.

I don't think the market for RWD V-8's is going anywhere anytime soon. The Camaro is gone for now... but, I hate to say, it will be back. We'd be crazy to think that it won't. I don't think we will be seeing any AWD Stangs anytime soon.

Fack…I hope not. Bad enough the new ’05 will be a porky +/- 3500 lbs. adding an awd system will bloat it up even more. I agree that the rwd platform should be left alone and I believe it it’s a key to the Mustang’s success.

Ford should bring the “real” Focus from Europe for us to enjoy….and the awd with it. The new Five-hundred will have an available awd system.

just to ad to this long ass thread. i have heard that the camaros are coming back. more to look like the classic ones like ford is doing with the mustang. If you think about it it makes since. Pontiac got rid of the firebird and brought back the GTO, and chevy has nothing to compete with Ford or any other car in that class. the vette is i believe is up a class. So i do believe the camaro is going to come back. i have heard from many people including some that work at GM. An AWD mustang isnt a mustang. sorry but i think thats a stupid idea. Even though when those people made and AWD vette on monster garage, which was baddass if i may add, but than its not a vette though. i think they should bring back the 5.0 like in the GTR of the 05 stangs, drop the 4.6, keep it with that new body and damn its a good looking stang IMO.

Rollin,
Not sure what it will run in the ¼ Mile, I have never taken it to the track. I have read posts on WRX sites where cars with identical mods and tire combinations are in the high 12’’s to low 13’s. I guess it depends on the driver. My 0-60 time is in the mid 4’s. I will cringe driving this car in the winter next year.

I have enjoyed a few opportunities at traffic lights with the odd M3, GT, 350Z and a few C5’s. I look stock as I’m not into “look at me” bolt-ons. So far not bad…blew a 1st to 2nd shift with a C5 for my only defeat……fack!...I’m way too old for this. I just detest drivers who run up beside you and rev the engine….Lately I am nursing a bruise on my right shoulder from my wife’s fist.

the american companies will have to do something AWD in two years. and the torque would not kill the front end in an AWD v8. in 2006 the market will be flooded with AWD. i am not talking pussy little 200 fwhp cars, i am talking 350 awhp skylines, newer STis and evos, audis, and more **** that will piss us off. te skyline will have around 425 hp at the crank and will be around 400 ft-lbs of torque. that is 11s, stock. someone will have to answer the AWD cars and come out with one that is more badass the previously mentioned.

AWD has a big advantage off the line...a kid that works for me has a wrx and took me for a ride in it...you can really feel the difference off the line and making turns...its not as fast top end but those precious second off the line is what's killing mustangs light to light...imo

there are AWD cars that kick ass from a roll. R33 and R34 Skylines, the Audi RS6 and the 07 Infiniti R35. they will also kick ass off the line.
