I looked carefully at my engine bay this morning, and saw that I could tuck some wires away, and clean up some lines such as the fuel line and vacuum line to the dizzy. So, I commenced to take all those parts off and wire brush them with the grinder wheel with a wire brush on one side and the emery on the other. I know I have too much time on my hands now that I am retired, so that was my "project" for the day. Without pulling the engine, I don't think I can get this old original 289 looking much better. I don't have any gasket leaks, so the engine stays relatively clean. Just thought I would share what I did today. I think I need to get a new digital camera. Any suggestions?

Looks good. I have been using your pictures to help me remember how to put mine back together. I tried hi-temp clearcoat on the fuel and vacume lines to see if it would keep them from rusting. Has worked so far but i havent started the engine yet.
Both. I have an old Sony floppy disk camera, and I can't seem to get it focused very well. Maybe an automatic focus and a few more pixels will help. As far as the engine, I also re-routed the heater hoses so that neither sits on top of the valve cover. The spark plug wires are all loomed and tucked away too. I know it is not all beautiful and shiny with chrome add-ons, but I am keeping it original as much as possible. Not necessarily concours, because I drive it almost daily, and sometimes for several hundred miles at a time.

Any Cannon, Nikon, Kodak, Olympus 3.2 or 4.0 mega pixel mini camera should work awsesome. I waited till they came out with a new generation, and bought last years model for about half price. All the pictures of modifications done to my car on this site have been taken with it, and downsized for folks on dial up.
Picked up a 256Mb card, and can shoot all day long on one card and battery. Very easy to download as well.

New year, new projects...
Bay looks great. I just bought a Pentax (good reliable name brand) Optio S5Z for $200 this christmas. Its a 5 megapixel and very small and very easy to use.
Edit: I just checked where I bought it and its only $152.
Thanks for all the suggestions on a camera and the accolades about the engine bay. Would any of you think a 5.0 megapixel camera is better that anything lower, such as a 4, etc. ? I guess my question is that is there a big price difference between the 5.0 and others with less pixels?
