Two weeks ago at the 1\8th mile of Irwindale Speedway(California). I'm in the staging lanes looking for a close match up(mid to high 7's). Lines are long & I notice a old Military Hummer pickup. Being ex-military; I immediately recognized it as being a "real" military hummer that someone picked up at auction. He had "civilian" 15" aftermarket rims with big knobby off-road tires as the only externally visable modification. Well.... I'm still a good half hour away from running & the Hummer is staging to make a pass against a new 'vette. All I can say is that the Hummer litterally jumped off tha line & ran 8.0@84mph!!!!!! Yes, he beat the new vette..... I did catch the vehicle idling in the staging lanes later & I could hear that is was indeed a turbo diesel. $5 says he swapped in the newer Isuzu designed GM or 6.0 Ford power stroke turbo diesel......
