For those of you waiting for the elusive bra for the '05/6's, they are FINALLY available. I just got off the phone to order mine, and apparently there are plenty in stock. I hope it fits like a glove as advertised because I am NOT looking forward to the Pony Trails without proper protection Noting worse than following a fellow Saleen'r with those sticky a$$ Pirellis
Those of you looking for protection, I highly recommend the 3M clear bra. You can find an authorized dealer near you via Xpel.Com. It is a bit pricey but it trully is see through and does not fade or stain your paint like a standard black fascial bra will. I have applied this on a number of vehicles. they are the ulitmate protection in my opinion. You can remove it later down the road if you want with a hair dryer and it leaves no marks. It runs about 800.00 bucks installed from a certified dealer. You can see the picture below and if you are really good you might even see some areas where you can see some edges, but the front end is completely done.
Hey, way to piss on my post I know those clear systems are good, but I just can't bring myself to spend $800 for something I really don't want to do to my Saleen. I just want the bra for the "drives" and it will come off when at shows and under cover in the garage.
We'll just have to see how it fits - I'm hoping it is soft backed and doesn't take much effort to stretch into place. If I feel that contunious removal and reapplying will damage the anchor areas, then i will be returning it for sure.
I'll post my thoughts on it an some close-ups of its fit & finish when I get it on in the next week or two.
Sorry guys, I dont like bras whehter they are the clear stick on kind or the leather-like black ones (Yeah, read into that one..). put a good coat of wax on for the bugs and don't tailgate to avoid rocks.... Ok not being funny, but I remember Bras rubbing paint off. Have they improved them?
Sorry Sowaxeman did not mean to piss on you there. As far as the leather bras I cannot speak to the quality of the newer ones, I had one on my 96 Jetta and yes it rubbed the paint right off around the edges, and sand grinded down the hood pretty well. However keep in mind I kept that puppy on 24/7 and 12,000 miles later I noticed it starting to occur. As far as Clear bras I have used it on all of my cars since 2001 and I have not had a problem. I would say the hardest thing is getting use to waxing the dam thing, strange to me on why you should wax it but 3M recommends it. Maybe in some way shape or form it protects it? but either way I have been very happy with my investments. I took one off a 2001 ford Mustang with 60,000 miles on it October of 2005. Besides some light cloth work in removing some excess residue from the adhesive the front end was perfect, not a chip. I will admit for some bonifed plastic sheets it is a bit pricey, but I believe it is well worth the price if you drive your car once or more a month. However if you do you like the leather Bras and you must have one, buy the Saleen one, it is the best place to spend your money. (<----------My plug for Sowaxeman)
Thanks for the "heads up" Sowaxeman! I just ordered mine. I've been waiting and praying for Saleen to release one. I need some protection for my "cheap" paint job going to and from shows.
Yes they have been available for awhile now. We have sold a couple already and have not heard any bad news about fitment problems.
Whats your definition of "awhile". I have been bugging Saleen about this about once every 2 weeks for the past 8 months [&:] This is the first I've seen/heard of its availability since the last time I checked (two weeks ago).
You should always check with us. We have been a Saleen dealer for a long time, which helps us get products right away! We got the first 05-06 bra about a month ago.
