I don't think best and cheap go in the same sentence. I have a "cheap" radar detector. I have a Cobra something another in mine, there's a code for it, and it was around $180. It's got the voice alert and all. Got my dad a Whistler something another and it was around $180 also. Both work well.....they're still not good if the state man is just turning on and off his radar. You'll know he's there, but it's too late.

whats the point of getting a radar that detects but detects late?

the whole point of getting a radar is not to get tickets ..

i was following this car on my way to houston and we were both doing 120 for around 2 hours .. everytime he slows down i slow down too.. and then we both pass a cop .. i was like daaaam he has a good radar but i bet it costed him around $400

OK, sometimes cops keep their guns on and if that's the case, like on the highway usually, then your radar detector will work fine. If they are hiding somewhere and see you go by then hit you with it your detector won't go off until they're hitting you. That's what 95LT1 was saying. When I had one that happened to me once, my detector went off a second before I saw the lights flash, I didn't get a ticket cuase I wasn't going fast but needless to say they're not a free pass to speed all the time. Oh yea, passports are really good, I had a cobra and it crapped out on me, I figured it out when I got pulled over by a statie and yes I did get a ticket from him.

I've got a $300 one that's 2 years old... permenant mount... made by Bell I believe.... very nice... you really can't tell it's there since it's not anywhere near the windows... and the laser mounts that are rigt next to the headboards don't look like anything illegal

whats everyone think of the v1's? i think if i was gonna spend 200 why not double it and have the biggest baddest bogey counting directional mutha on the planet. it would take 2 near misses to pay for itself, but still, i hear they're like THE one to get.
