Jeep bro, have ya priced a Hemi?  The Neon SRT is interesting, but what could they do with something a bit different?  Its a Honda killer for sure, but Cobra's SS and WS6 cars will eat them for lunch.  Know why you dont see many GLH's runnin around? Few can keep them runnin. Mopar is the Parts division, you guys are catchin on.  There is a whole big world out there, there are so many ways to do the same thing. My "race" car is a 79 Formula. Stock it would have had a hard time runnin a 16. it was a 301 4 barrel 4 speed WS6 car. So it handled really well, but was a dog. It now runs pretty well, doesnt have a 301 anymore, and I only have about $5500 in it.

My brother is into Dodge. Has a 70 Challenger and a Ram 50 with a 360 in it. He has about $7k in the truck and it wont get closer than 2 seconds slower than my bird. He is almost 1000 lbs lighter.  My Mach stomps his butt pretty bad and I have all of $1000 in it. Of course, he isnt as experienced as I am at building for the 1/4. But he is also starting out with a smaller engine, hence less potential. Additionaly his parts cost more. Pontiac stuff is comparable to Chevy parts, if you shop around they can be built for SBC prices and make alot more torque. Buick V6's are a wild ride with a few tweaks.  Anything can be made to run, how much it will cost you is the key. Money is an object for all of us. We dont have unlimited funds. When you dont have $$$ use your head instead. Learn, read, study, think.

Total agreement on that. I just dont like workin on Japaneese cars. Dopnt like how most of them look, NSX and a Supra or two have an interesting look, but thats about it. I like Musclecars and FOx mustangs. The new mod 4.6 Stangs are gettin better. I like the new body style, but the price is way up there for a quick one.  I'll take an STD over workin on a Honda anyday.

The SRT-4 runs mid 13's stock, in there with the Cobra's SS's, and WS6's, and with slicks and some mods can run with them (stock ones, ind you).

Not too bad for a car that costs 4 grand less than a stock 4.6, and for less than 1500 bucks can hang with the Cobras, and the LS1's

i just think there's got to be a downside to them somewhere...be it long term durability or just that it just can't get modded past a certain point.  it just can't be that good...is it reeeeally tuned out of the factory or something?

Not really tuned out of the factory. The turbo on it is basically a 16G that is found on most DSM cars these days but it is reverse flow and the intake and exhaust housings on are tighter than a standard 16G. A lot of guys are doing a lot of things with it but at some point it comes down to the fact its a front wheel drive car and thats pretty much the limitation to it. Fun car to drive and for the cost of it 19,995. It provides a lot of bang for the buck for a new car

man...i guess i just cant get over the fact that its so affordable.  some cost must have been spared or is it just that it is using all currectly produced parts minus a few things like the facia and spoiler?

dodge and the boys really haven't made much since the good ole days of the 426 and 440...they have some nice loking car but always seem to lack horsepower c'om but a v-6 in the prowler... they could have turbo'd it.. I was given one of the hopped up omni's ran pretty good leave the line around 4k....put basically a jap car...
