Do you mean how to restore it? Not a very good open ended question. If you want to restore it, just remember that the metal center of the console is cheap pot metal, so the dimples will not come out. Just clean it up as best you can with a wire brush, or buy a new aftermarket one. As far as the plastic part, prep it for vinyl dye, then spray it the color you wish with vinyl dye. You can also relace the rear light, ash tray and the wiring harness with aftermarket parts from just about any vendor. I restored my ash tray by cleaning it up with sand paper, then sprayed it with silver paint.
I don't know if these pics will help, but I just now went out and took these. Best I remember, there is a blank harness just behind the key ignition with three wires to hook up the console. I have mine all tucked in, so these pics may not show you the exact connection points. Mine is also a short console because I have air, so if there is a light in your box on the long console, you may have another pigtail from the rear light you have to hook up. Heck, it is just logic. No way Jose. I bought my car with the air, but had to dig deep and rely on an old VMF friend to sell me his black short console at a fair price. Those dang thing are 'spensive. I have also had to upgrade the aircon with the new 134 stuff, but the condenser is the original. She still pumps out cold air, even with the 134 stuff. Not quite as cold as the R-12 though. Dang environmentalists. []
