What's this about passenger side cam? I thought this was a SOHC engine, not a DOHC.

i gotta admit guys that the idea of slapping a power adder has crossed my mind. HOWEVER, thats one reason i didnt buy the GT. anybody can get a 300 hp stock ride and start whooping arss, same holds true for power adders. to me its teh guys who spends more time taking the less powerful motor and making it into a daily driver but also a high hp all motor beast that gets respect. (thats just me) i firmly believe that because the motor is already a 4.0 its only a matter of time before it's stroked and would not be uncommon to be running 13's or even 12's all motor. maybe im being stupid about it but its a goal i wanna achieve because then i can say "hey, i got this car with the motor that supposedly wasnt worth getting and i just ran a number you wish you could run." not to be a dik but the potential is there and for those who would say its not there, it would be nice to rub it in their face every now and again. anyway, here is a website of a place that seems to be taking us 6 lovers pretty damn serious. i hope it wasnt already posted. if so, my bad. let me know what you think.

omer, it is a SOHC. its just that its 1 cam per bank.

I love the idea of staying n/a. I was talking with Travis over at http://home.fastspecialties.com/ about this. He was saying, for our cars there's not a great mid-range way of making power. Bolt-ons get you small-ish gains at lower cost. A supercharger or turbocharger gets your bigger gains at a much bigger cost. But, heads, stroked, cams, pistons, etc get you only modest gains with a large cost. He thought the supercharger was the best way to go power/cost wise. Still, I'd love to see a 4.0L with all that lovely internal work done, especially since I want to keep mine a daily driver. But, will probably end up going with a low-boost supercharger one day.

It is a SOHC. You still need a cam for each cylinder bank. If it was DOHC it would have 2 cams for each cylinder bank. The cam chain is on the front of the driver's side, in the rear on the passenger's side. Each head is the same, it's just turned around from side to side.

well i went to the dealership today and took a look at the v6's and i liked what i saw, but i also saw an rx-8...i know most of you will bash me for liking that car but i dont really care. It was a 6 speed for 19,700 with 22,000 miles on it. It was black with the leather interior and all options except for navigation. I am seriously considering that, but if i do get a mustang ive decided i'll be the guinea pig for going all n/a (cams heads and such). I should have whichever one i get by the first of may, so i will update you guys one what i do.

I am still looking for an alternator pulley. Which site you purchase it off and whats the part #?
How hard is it to change the pulley and can it be done without taking alternator off?

I've been talking to Tom at Super SIx Motorsports, he and I talked today at length about the heads and cams they offer.
I made a commitment today to buy the Stage 3 heads and cams. These cams are the reason I decided to go with 4.10's.
I won't go out on a limb right now and predict any power numbers, but from my past experiences with cam selection and the rest of my setup it should make for a very strong NA engine.
I'm getting my baseline dyno this Saturday and I will follow up dyno tunes as the car progresses.

Stay tuned

thanks. How hard was it to get the Alternator bolt off? Did you need impact gun? Did you do it on the car or removed the alternator?

my shop did it, Larry said it was a bitch to get the bolt off and left the alternator in. Not sure what he used to get it off.

thank you rygen and fazm for info. I need to locate an impact gun I guess or maybe save my money towards a purchase of a supercharger. Lets see, $160 for pulley that adds extra 3rwhp. Thats comes out to $54 per HP. Kind of steep but then again I paid over $500 for C&L and Xcal 2. I guess with supercharger/turbo we get the most bang for bucks.

Do we have Forged Internals stock? I've heard rumors that our block has Forged Internals stock. If this is true I bet we can get to the upper 200's at the wheels N/A.
