id like to know how much wattage my amps puttin out and i have a pretty good grasp on electrical but not too much on electronics.....will this give me a real output?
resistance across + and - terminals =R
Volts/Resistance=Amperage
12 Volts times Amperage=Wattage
will these formulas give me a correct wattage output?

That won't tell you anything. An amplifier does not produce constant output. If it did, the speakers would just pop once when you turned it on and then make no sound at all. Testing is rather complicated and involves hooking it up to a signal generator and then watching what it outputs on an oscilloscope. It's easier to just search the web for a spec sheet on your amp.
You also have to remember that amps are not %100 efficient, and loose alot of power to heat. You can get a rough idea by looking at the fuse in the amp.

The resistance will not measure anything because you will just be measuring the transistors. The only way to know power wether max or rms is in lab condition testing or from the factory tested specs. This is done with a perfect condition input signal and measureing current threw a test load.
