I was just reading an article about autocrossing, and the guy said to lube your sway bar bushings before each event. Has anyone heard of doing this? Am I supposed to be lubing these bushings? And if so, how and with what? Thanks in advance.

My Hellwig rear sway bar came with Teflon lube for the bushings. Got it all lubed up when I installed, but don't really know if they will require routine lubing (haha that sounds dirty).

I'm sure a lot has to do with the brand of bushing, but I find I need to lube sway bar bushings a couple of times a year or they start making a little noise when going over speed bumps in parking lots, etc. I just pull the bushings off the bars, clean the old grease off and then put a new coat of synthetic grease in the bushing. Lubing all four bushings on my car (two per bar) takes maybe about 20 minutes.

EDIT: I should note this is with after-market sway bars and performance bushings. I've never had to lube a factory bushing to keep it quiet.

Thanks for the education. I'd never heard anyone mention lubing their sway bar bushings, so I thought I was missing something. Learning everyday!
