well after a several hours of hard work, i finally got my shift kit in. yesterday it took me and a couple friends about 5 hours to get it in there and then after driving it we knew something was wrong. turns out i forgot a spring for the 1-2 shift accumulator because the stock assembly didnt have the top spring so i figured i'd leave the aftermarket top spring out. i took it apart again today and installed the top spring and now it works. it kinda sucks how things take twice as long if you've never done it before, but in the end it usually works out

There is an old saying in woodworking: Measure twice and cut once.....
Maybe there is a slight parellell here...

lol you dont even wanna know how many times i've heard that. there was no way for me to know that though. the instructions said "note: not all springs are present in all models". i took that as 'if its not there, dont replace it'. and just to get the top spring in i had to compress it with a jack to get the clip back in.

heres another saying (well kinda): Don't make assumptions

Hey Zoso did it seem to make a pretty big diff? I m looking at getting a shift kit pretty soon here and just wondering what kind of performance to expect outta it. Also does it stay in each gear till it gets to a high RPM before shifting all the time or only when u punch it?

your computer controls the shift points. the shift kit just makes the shifts quicker. it chirps the tires shifting into second[and the 2-3 shift really kicks you in the ass. you can even feel it in normal driving; it gives you a little kick when it shifts, which i think is cool. it was defenitely worth the 60 bucks i paid for it and you should put it in yourself cause the valve body looks cool

haha nice! What about it staying in gear to a higher rpm b4 shifting, is this only when u get on it or when driving slow as well? or did u not install the higher governor part of the kit?

the shift points are exactly the same; normal driving = short shift, pedal to the metal = high shift. and i dont know what you mean by higher governor. of course you have an AOD, i have an AOD-E so its gonna be a different kit but it should work the same. when are you gonna get those gears put in man? your gonna see more of a difference with those then all your other **** put together

I know I know! I cant wait, should get them put in the next month. I am actually saving up again because i got them when i had my old job in construction, but kinda wasnt enough work during winter so i quit. Just recently been working side jobs so hopefully i will have enough soon. Was it a real drastic improvement when u got your gears in or was is just nice to have the extra oompf?

the gears pretty much transformed it into a muscle car. i went from 2100 rpm burnouts to being able to drift and 2nd gear burnouts. hell i havent tried but i bet it would burn em in 3rd! also, with the old 3.08s ricers would just burn me off the line and i'd have to play catch up in every race. they see me catching up and they hit the brakes before i get a chance to blow past them. now i just leave them in the dust every time.

WOW! OMG I am so pumped to get those gears slapped in now. I know exactly what ya mean about the ricers... everytime i creep on em the do the same thing...bang there goes the brake light. With the gears and the shift kit hopefully it will transform my car into a much more race worthy vehicle. Thx for the info man!
