On a second notee, anyone here got a gauge on how accurate that info read out is? This is my first car with this feature and I have heard they are generous in stating your mpg compared to actual. blackfoot 04-04-2006, 12:33 AM i get 11L / per 100 km... (thats how much you burn... the lower hte number the better, in canada) sonicblue05 04-04-2006, 12:35 AM uhhh blackfoot,i cann decypher that information! lol i got around 17. then i put on the gt duals and now i get almost 20!!!!! sweet!! Yashar 04-04-2006, 12:36 AM im not a lead foot! im a great driver never too fast! (with one exception when i had to just test it out but the limiter stopped me at 113 or so) i dont knwo i bought the salvaged from this dude who mods mustangs for a living but i dont think he did much to it because he never works on v6's it was for his girlfriend but she broke up with him so he sold it maybe he did some crazy mod? i dont htink so... could there be aproblem with my car.. sonicblue05 04-04-2006, 12:41 AM you didnt ask what he did to it?? lol brilliant! i hope you got 1 hell of a deal! Yashar 04-04-2006, 12:45 AM hahah actually i did 10500 im stupid im young! 16 my dad did most of the dirtywork abd besides if i did and he s like WELLblablablalabla my dad would be like....you dont need this fast of a car.. get a nissan! RedHotMama 04-04-2006, 12:46 AM I just got back from a long trip in my stock V6 Vert...27 mpg. I liked it. Yashar 04-04-2006, 12:51 AM any thoughtson what my problem could be? chrisc 04-04-2006, 12:58 AM i am getting 14, dont worry Truxtun 04-04-2006, 01:00 AM I get about 19 City and 24-29 Hwy, depending on lead foot passing, with the 17" wheels on. With the 16" Stock wheels my best was 32.2 Hwy. I have Fred @ Evolutions 93 Octane tune in now, and although I have worse lead foot now (it is to much fun) I still get 19-20 City and I just got 24.7 on a 200 miles trip, with the 1st 1/4 tank City driving. Trip meter said 282.4 and I still had about 1/8 tank or so Yashar 04-04-2006, 01:05 AM yeha i am yet to get a tune i want to get one soon thugh with my cold ait intake i hear doug is good... sonicblue05 04-04-2006, 01:19 AM yep yep dude go for it. you will get better mpg witha tune, IF you keep you foot out of it LMOA yeah..... exhaust got me significant gains actually. 10500? holy hell you did get a deal! M^2 04-04-2006, 01:39 AM Personally when I first got my stang my gas milage was low. which I think most everyone will agree with. That doesnt neccesarly mean that you are speading either it just means that you get up to the speed limit quickly. So if you are getting on it when you take off that is definitely your problem. I know that is what kills my fuel economy not speeding sonicblue05 04-04-2006, 01:53 AM oh yeah dont speed, just get to the limit as fast as humanly possible. lol Yashar 04-04-2006, 02:02 AM haha yeha thaqt MIGHT be my problem i just drove down to subway and back and tried to get to the speedlimit very slowly and like use the break very little but my avereage was only 17 which is about the same as 16 just plus one :) hehe OH and sonicblue it was a great deal but it had a front end accedent previously but the dude fixed it (who better to fix your mustang then a guy who mods and works on mustangs for a living) but HELL of a deal and great first car :):):):):):)) jericho73 04-04-2006, 02:37 AM ORIGINAL: sonicblue05 10500? holy hell you did get a deal! Yeah but it's a salvaged title, he'll get zip for it on resale. Yashar 04-04-2006, 02:44 AM whosaid this thing is gonna be resold? im planning on keeping this car PERIOD i will get other cars as the years go by but ill never sell this baby its a instant classic... chrisc 04-04-2006, 02:47 AM ORIGINAL: sonicblue05 oh yeah dont speed, just get to the limit as fast as humanly possible. lol this theory gets really bad mpg...trust me Yashar 04-04-2006, 02:58 AM i know but still my milage is horrible even if i do that i need a tune and a better exauste anything else help with milage? oh and ps im sorta SUPER low in the cash area so low cost modsfirst? chrisc 04-04-2006, 03:19 AM ORIGINAL: Yashar i know but still my milage is horrible even if i do that i need a tune and a better exauste anything else help with milage? oh and ps im sorta SUPER low in the cash area so low cost modsfirst? for now you probably want to just drive...um..."slowly", if you really tone it down you can get these cars to around 20 in even city/traffic/suburbs driving Yashar 04-04-2006, 03:36 AM i would be SO happy if i could squeeze 20 out of it i tried going REALLY slow and everyhign again today i got as high as 18 which isnt that bad i guess 2K5 Legend 04-04-2006, 04:00 AM yeah, if you do mostly city driving these get kinda crappy mileage. I get 16mpg going 2 miles to and from work, with about 10 stoplights. It sucks, but what ya gonna do, I gotta drive my pony! jet22 04-04-2006, 04:05 AM I get about 17... and I drive backcountry mountain roads (20 mi off them)... lots of twistys.. nicarc369 04-04-2006, 05:24 AM oh yeah dont speed, just get to the limit as fast as humanly possible. lol +1 I only averaged 22 on the highway this weekend. Can you blame me? IT WAS A STRAIGHT ROAD FOR 320 MILES!!!!! Trill Gear Head 04-04-2006, 12:17 PM I get an average of like 17mpg, i live like in a suburban neighborhood wit like 5 lights to school. on occasion i will have to admit that i open her up. oh and My baby just turned 1000miles today. :) they grow up so fast lol, i've only had her a month. Yashar 04-04-2006, 12:28 PM i live in a suburban area too theres about 1 to school if i take the long way 2 if i take the short way but its all mountains JStang78 04-04-2006, 01:42 PM In suburban driving, about half of that being during rush hour (stop-and-go traffic for 11 miles), I get about 17-18 regularly but I was happy to get 20 on my last tank. I got 24 highway on a road trip some time back. I didn't get 20 mpg on my last tank because of anything I did though, all the schools were on spring break, so there wasn't as much traffic and I didn't have to stop for school buses. Wicked Pony 04-04-2006, 01:49 PM I do all city driving and I'm averaging about 17.5-18mpg. And thats in stop and go rush hour traffic. Furinox 04-04-2006, 02:38 PM after putting my new exhaust on I'm getting 22.2 mpg even romping on it in the city(I like to hear those exhaust notes). Don't trust your readout MPG. Figure it by hand and it is much more accurate. Miles traveled divided by gallons used. The next time you fill up keep your receit and write down how many miles your car has on it. the time after that record your miles again and subtract to figure how many miles driven and then divide by how ever many gallons you just put in to fill the tank back up. Oh and I use 87 octane without a tune. JStang78 04-04-2006, 07:45 PM WickedPony -- You should have a trip odometer regardless. If you press the button that says "reset" on the speedo, the trip odometer will come up. If you hold the button down for a second or so, it will reset to 000.0. That's how I figure my mileage: take the miles travelled on the trip odometer, and divide it by the number of gallons of gas I put in the car. I have a calculator in my phone, so I can figure it right there before I even leave the station. There was also a description of Blackfoot's method of gas consumption measurement in the latest Road & Track. Anyone unsure of how it compares to "mpg" should check that out - April '06 issue. Yes I know that . Thats how I figure it out. I'm just sad that I didnn't get the IUP. JStang78 04-04-2006, 07:55 PM My mistake...I thought you were asking. ;) ...been a long day. [&o] I can't wait for the ride home! LisaJ429 04-04-2006, 08:00 PM i am getting 14 also. it was actually 13 but since putting the exhaust and K&N filter on..i have noticed it has gone up. I only drive 8 miles round trip to work and it is city driving. Highway thought I get about 20 mpg. Can't complain though..I had a 97 Ford Expedition and only got 8-9 mpg and had to fill up every 5 days or so. I can go 2 1/2 weeks on a tank now. ORIGINAL: chrisc i am getting 14, dont worry gregt909 04-04-2006, 08:05 PM I know a lot of it depends on driving habits but I have been getting anywhere from 15-20 mpg. Hand calcs. I don't drive that conservative and I have the 4.6 with manual. I thought I was getting low mileage till I read some of your posts. I dunno.... blackfoot 04-04-2006, 08:05 PM lol well i switched my thingy from metric to english lmao yeah they called it english not standard lol and it said i was getting 23MPG V6Vert 04-04-2006, 08:38 PM You should be getting better milage than that. Put some fuel injector cleaner in your next tank and see if that helps any. You might also want to try the K&N drop-in if you don't have a CAI. They cost about $55, but i just got one two weeks ago and I'm getting 2 to 3 mpg better than I was. My wife and I drove from Mississippi to San Antonio last weekend and got 27mpg on the interstate @ 75mph average. I really think you should at least be getting 18 - 20 mpg Yashar 04-04-2006, 08:50 PM fuel injector cleaner? what is that ? V6Vert 04-04-2006, 08:56 PM Its stuff you pour in your gas tank that cleans all of your internal fuel system. Theres tons of different brands, just go to auto zone or wal-mart or any place like that. Yashar 04-04-2006, 09:08 PM wow thats awesome i should pick some up i need allthe milage i can get! flapjack 04-04-2006, 10:52 PM I get anywhere from 21-25, and that's at 6400ft, with a supercharger, driving like an @55 25% of the time. ;) Yashar 04-04-2006, 11:24 PM hows the supercharger holding up in your car? somone told me that a supercharger would totally own our car flapjack 04-05-2006, 02:14 AM It's holding up great! It's an absolute blast to drive. GTs beware... Well, unless your supercharged/turbocharged, that is! ;) I still have a minor tune issue that RPM Outlet is working on, but I got a free MAFia out of the deal, so I'm not complaining! Yashar 04-05-2006, 02:38 AM wow yeah i was really thinking of a superor turbo charger how much did yours set you back? hahah and gas milage how are you getting like 8 mpg MORE then me WITH a supercharger something here sucks for me! flapjack 04-05-2006, 02:44 AM I paid $3809 for the 100% complete Stage II kit from RPM Outlet. They show $4139 on their page, but you may be able to knock it down a bit like I did (military discount). The kit comes with: - ProCharger supercharger @ 9 psi - Stage II intercooler - All necessary piping and mounting hardware - Enough blower oil for 4 changes - 42lb injectors - NGK V-power spark plugs - Diablo Predator tuner w/unlimited tune support (in case you change something down the road) The kit has it's own intake, so don't worry about that. You asked about the programmer, I love it. Don't let anyone tell you either the SCT or the Diablo is better than the other. They both edit the same things. The SCT has the edge with tune availability. They have an awesome dealer network with a tune bank they can pull from. The Diablo is awesome because of the sheer amount of end-user customization. You can edit just about anything in your tune. Yashar 04-05-2006, 03:01 AM did you install it all yourself? (im asking because SOMEDAY if i get the money ever.... i want to get one but im only 16 and almost NO auto experince and noone to learn from :(:(:( ) 0to60 04-05-2006, 04:06 AM Yashar, it sounds like you're doing lots of short trips on suburban, mountainous roads. 16-18 mpg is not particularly bad when there is lots of accelerating and decelerating involved. If you're maintaining a constant speed, slower is not necessarily better. I get 15-20 around town (depending on my mood;)), but on my most recent highway trip I did 264 miles on 8.4 gallons, which is a little over 31 mpg. I kept a constant speed between 65-70, for the most part. If I stay around 55-60 I can get even better. I have a manual so I try to stay in 5th on the highway, except on downhills when I drop into neutral. I'm also running Bamachips 93 octane torque tune; I think the higher octane fuel helps a little as well. Tim Yashar 04-05-2006, 04:23 AM ill try and get a high octane tune, as for the fifth gear cruise how many gears to manuals actually even have is it like 4 with one overdrive or whatever? i dont know can anyone tell me? and if it is ... can i get a fifth gear? |
