Default More power

I have a 3.8L V6. It is a 2001 and i was wondering when things i could do to get more power out of my engine. I do not have that much money to spend on new parts so the cheaper the idea the better.

i never really heard of cheap power. know of cheap ways to make u lil bit faster, but not more power. cheap ways... make sure yo tires are aired up properly, get ride of the spare tire and jack and other stuff u might have in the trunk that aint really needed. i heard remove the air silencer. guess a cheap power adder could be exhaust, buy straight thru mufflers. less backpressure in your exhaust more power. headers, CAI, umm if not already electric fan, change to elec fan. under drive pulleys.

Compucar's Nos in a bag is about $300.00 and take about 30 minute to install. It's a 50 shot dry N20 kit and it works great and is not TOO hard on your motor. That's the least expensive way to beat all V6's and most V8's ..........errrrr, unless they have power adders too.[sm=smiley14.gif]

money is a problem and nos is not the answer. the kit itself may be cheap but i dont think u know how to put it on and ull also need to prep the engine with fuel injkectors and the sort. try to get used parts off people on ebay or the forums where people wanna sell **** and u wanna buy. with about a 1000 bucks and penny pinching u can probably do alot.

That is true about big shot wet N20 kits, but a 50 shot dry kit does not need anything on the car changed, not even the computer. It would be beneficial to have the car chipped and dyno's, but not necessary. It is easier than installing subwoofers and a box in the trunk. The only down side is the expense of the bottle refills, but it's not too bad if you have the system manualy switched and not automatic.

Any other suggestions besides nos. That will become expensive because I will have to keep filling the tank up.

I like jeeps answer, let's go with that.

You can go natural asp. and build the top end of the motor for about 2K, but if you have to pay a Mechanic, add about a grand to that. Ported heads, valves, roller rockers, ported intakes cam is the best, but expensive. Then as you add power you get the most out of it. Plus the weakest link on a 3.8 is the heads, so you will take that prob out of the equation.
