First Ford GTX1 Headed to Barrett Jackson

Once again, buying rights to one of Ford’s fabulous sports cars will be up for bid at Barrett-Jackson. Built by Genaddi Design Group, the prototype is set with No Reserve, holding the representative honor for the first production model. The auction is set at the South Florida Expo Center and will last for three days (March 30, 2006 – April 1, 2006). "This is a truly remarkable car with some of the most innovative engineering ever incorporated into a roadster, much less a supercar," Craig Jackson, president and CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co., said. "The opportunity to own serial #001 of this amazing car will draw interest among collectors worldwide."
After its sensational debut at SEMA, designer Kip Ewing contacted master coach builder Mark Gerisch of Genaddi to help make his concept a production reality. His vision is now alive and wherever it goes, the GTX1 captures media attention worldwide.
The GTX1 is a result Ewing’s hardtop initiative that allows three possible configurations for the Ford GT, all bent on suiting owner preferences. Four pieces comprise the top, and with all four together, the GTX1 is a fully-enclosed sport coupe. Removing components of the roofline and trim allow for a full-open roadster presentation or a T-top roof. One of the top clamshell pieces can also be removed independently to open the cabin up in the same manner as a moon roof.
Other features marking the uniqueness of the Ford GTX1 are modified exhaust, custom wheels, and custom toned paint. Moving this completely street-legal marvel along the roadway is a 650hp supercharged V8. All of the excitement built into the GTX1 adds an additional $38,000 to the sticker price of a Ford GT.
As with many past high-caliber auctions, a portion of the auction proceeds are geared for delivery to a charity. 20% of the proceeds are set to benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the handiwork of John Walsh of "America's Most Wanted." NCMEC launches efforts each year to prevent child abduction, help find missing children and assist victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them.
