Some of (no offense v6 guys) realize the F-body is a peice of trash with a gift under the hood...take away the gift and I would never have purchased one in my life.
Same thing can be said about the Corvettes really...
Besides the engine/suspension...the rest of the car is fairly dissapointing. The interior materials and build quality is downright horrible for starters...
But, it gets the job done and there aren't many other choices on the domestic side.
But the WS6's and SS look better with the hood and wheels. To he honest if the the trans am or camaro was still in production I would probably have gotten one over my '06 gt, but I wanted a brand new car. The one thing I don't like about the LS1 is the exhaust note, I have heard many of them and they sound pretty bad, the 4.6 and 5.0 mustangs sound 800 times better but that is just my opinion

The Mustangs exhaust note is by far the best in history ever!!! IMO!
I would take a nice Mustang exhaust anyday over any Camaro exhaust
You won't find many who will disagree... Hell my car doesn't even have an exhaust note...thing is so damn quiet, even WOT you hear the rattling of the engine over the exhaust.

lol. LT1's are said to have a better sound than LS1's. If that's true, then @ the sound of LS1's. And I know what you mean about hearing engine noise over exhaust. Even with headers and no cat, I don't hear my exhaust at WOT, unless the cutout's open. Hopefully a replacement Blowmaster 80 series will give me a little better exhaust note. Once I get the Pacesetter LT's, or x-pipe, and Flowmaster super 40's or 44's, I might be able to finally hear my exhaust and not want to puke. lol
you just need to have a 3 1/2 " custom built mandrel exhaust put on and the ls1. it will sound just as mean or meaner than a stang's does... when i had mine built there were terminator guy's in there when they started my 04 gto up and they stated that it sounded better than there's. all i am saying is that all you have to do is have the right exhaust built for the ls1 and it will sound awsome. i also have pacesetter long tubes.
apparently none of you have ever heard and lt1 with full length headers and BORLA

LT1's sound like poop too. I put a Flowmaster 80 series on mine a couple weeks ago. It livened up the sound a little. But, only up to a little over 3k rpms. At WOT, you can't even hear it though. He has a '98 SS with shorty headers and custom catback (fabbed by Aledo Brake and Muffler) without a muffler. It sounds mean and I wouldn't have guessed that there was no muffler. Every other LS1, or even LT1, sounds horrible without a muffler on it. I think I'm going to go see them about doing it to my car, or possibly fabbing it up with a Super 40, to see if I can get louder and also a decent tone to it.
I had a gutted Series 80, no cat and 3 inch pipe (with BBK Shorty Headers)... it was loud, and sounded mean but it wasn't anywhere near as sweet as a mustang with an H (or X-pipe) and a couple of aftermarket mufflers tossed on. :(

I don't think it's going to be possible for any Fbody to sound as good as a Mustang. Well, 2v's atleast. I'm hoping that I'll get close to sounding as good as one, once I get the Pacesetter LT's and run a Jegs 2.5" universal x-pipe kit, with a couple of Flowmaster Super 40 or Super 44 mufflers.

Actually, I have. My buddy just got rid of his cammed '99 Cobra not too long ago. I forgot about how great it sounded. It did sound better than his '04 GT he has now.

Your first mistake was buying a crappy sounding muffler, to which you now conclude to mean the LT1 sounds like poop? There are tons and tons of mufflers and catbacks out there, even a flowmaster 40 would have sounded decent.
For the record, I have a TSP rumbler w/ headers that sounds great, but am jealous of the sound of this 4.6 that drives by my work often .
