Just got it installed over my lunch break, no vibration at 5000 rpm. Thanks to all that helped. Installed at Muscle Motors Performance, Chatsworth,Ca.

Did they take the differential apart to install it or just remove the flange?

For your reference, high speed is what you have to take it to for checking vibration. The drive shaft is relative to speed not rpm.

I didn't ask, and wasn't allowed in the work area. When I mentioned changing the flange, he seemed confident in that it was something he was familiar with. It only took approx. 30 min. I took it 90mph and no vibration.

Sounds like you are set to race!

If he did it in 30 minutes he did not take the differential apart. I personally don't think it needs to come apart contrary to many, as long as the mechanic knows what he is doing.

Not sure I would have had it done at a shop that wouldn't let me watch though. I always stay with my car when it's being worked on. That's why I don't take it to the dealer. Unless it's under warranty and just to expensive to fix it myself. I've had horror stories at the dealer and have heard of even worse than me.

I could see from a distance. From what I could tell, nothing happened outside of the job that was requested.

I need you to take it to 120MPH and report back.

I just got my parts in the mail yesterday. Can somebody tell me...the ranger shaft needs to be shortened EXACTLY 9", correct? I will have to hold off on the install though. Still trying to get the dealer to fix my axle moan, and they are suspicious of the contol arms already...A driveshaft would probably push them over the edge.

Nice aluminum shaft! Very light and strong, but 700 bucks? Damn

I think 700$ is pretty resonable for a 0.2 improvment in 1/4. I wonder what the Carbonfiber one can do?

Actually the carbon fiber shafts weigh about the same as the aluminum shafts.

Because it's carbon fiber... the only real advantage to CF shafts is they take some shock away from the tires because the shafts will twist a little with the initial hit of torque and then when the return to their normal state you get the power back. Plus if you ever break a u-joint with a CF shaft the shaft will fray instead of tearing up the floorpan of the car.

Can't say I've ever had a driveshaft let go but wouldn't a loop around the shaft keep it from tearing anything apart? Isn't one required for drag racing applications anyway? It seems to me it would be cheap insurance to put one on rather than risk ruining an expensive drivetrain.

A loop is designed to keep you from pole vaulting as with a one piece shaft you are only required to have a loop at the front. If the rear joint breaks it's going to be slinging around under the car like you wouldn't believe. I have seen first hand the damage a one piece shaft can do when a rear joint breaks, it pretty much destroys the back 1/2 of the car, the floor pan will be ripped to shreds and the rear suspension will be destroyed.

Loop will keep the shaft from coming through the floor killing you if things break apart, but no guarantee it won't shred things down there...

haha, hijacks suck right? go here http://www.driveshaftshop.com/Shaftmes.htm and take a measurement if you want to be exact. however 9" exactly should be ok since the front of the shaft is a slip yoke. also you could PM spyder, the ranger DS pioneer

After quiet some time of having the Ford Ranger mod, I'm being told that its on backwards. Anyone have documentation on how this is installed on the Ford Ranger itself?
